What is the reason for the 3 spots on the left side of the NG frames, near the cylinder? I tried search with no luck. 3 silver dots on an all black frame. I am thinking it has to do with how they finish those revolvers?

Please forgive a newbe if this is common knowledge.

thanks

Those are the ends of the internal post of the frame.

They are pins like the others said, actually referred to as studs. They are for the trigger, cylinder stop and hammer. They are installed in the frame and the ends polished, which is why they are flush with the surface. These studs are a different maerial than the frame and react differently to the finishing process resulting in the difference in color. If you take the stocks off you will find a fourth, the rebound slide pin.
