Lou Alessi was really a master holster designer and maker who
was influenced by Chic Gaylord and Paris Theodore aka Seventrees.
Lou passed away in February 2009. I am lucky to have his famous
hard shell talon made by Lou's own hands a few years
prior. So, I am familiar with the quality of his work.
My "Talon" is shown below with my Model 60. It is a well made
IWB with a nylon clip that fits over the waistband, with the belt
going over the clip.
I believe a son in law took over after Lou's passing, and it's a
damn shame how it went into a downward spiral. The BBB
reported numerous complaints from customers who ordered and
paid, but never received their order. No reflection on Lou, but
if you want a good Alessi holster, find one that was made before
2009.
I was cruising the bay the other day, and came across this
vintage Alessi brown leather strong side holster, made for an
S&W K frame with 4" barrel, with the pull through snap. A little
voice in my subconscious said click on that buy now button, and
liberate this old gem. It was painful, but I couldn't resist.
If any of you fellow holster junkies out there happen to have an
old Alessi holster catalog, or if you are familiar with this particular
holster, I would appreciate knowing if it has a name, and what
it is? Thank you.
