...As of Friday afternoon, the interactive air quality map showed a strip of orange moving northwest to southeast across Wisconsin. Most of the state showed moderate air quality as did all of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois also showed moderate air quality on the AirNow map.
Over the next day or so, particulates from the burning trees, leaves and other vegetation could reach further south into Oklahoma, Tennessee and Arkansas...
Likely all summer.
The eastern 90% of Canada is ranked as Extreme Wild Fire Risk right now, with only British Colombia in an average category.
The present fires are really going in Manitoba, but points east and west have pretty light fires for the early season. The potential for big fires exists from Alberta to at least Quebec.
For an obvious reasons, Canada is a little less aggressive in fire management than the U.S. and a bit less federally controlled. The federal and provincial fire assets have been gearing up for a healthy 2025 season since last season.
