Anyone have one of these handguns. An old friend who lives in Reno picked up a decocker variant for less than $300 with two 20rd mags.

Kind of curious myself. All I know about them is the one I looked at felt very nice in my hand. It was like they used my hand as a model to mold it from. I wasn't shopping for another 9mm at the time, but the low price and good looks forced me to fondle it a bit. I will say, I've never heard anything negative about any of them.

After EDCing a CZ PCR for a while, I saw a very similar Canik at Academy Sports. Working the action felt a little less solid than the CZ, but still felt fine.

I can only speak to the Tristar metal frame, hammer fired, CZ inspired handguns made by Canik. I think their more traditional metal frame guns are sold by Tristar, while Canik markets their newer polymer stiker fired guns.
The Tristars I have had were - and are very well made and reliable. I compare them very favorably with CZs. They are a more economic alternative to CZs.
I do think that a few years ago Canik did market some of their metal framed handguns directly under their name. But I have not seen any on any of the well known gun dealer websites for several years. They do show Tristars - but all are now out of stock (unless something has changed in the past few days).
If you like CZs, I expect you will also like the Tristars made by Canik.

Three or four local friends have them, shoot them regularly and I've not heard one complaint. The few times I've shot them, they worked very well. There's a small mom and pop gun store here that's sold bunches of them ... and those little SCCY guns too.

I have fondled my fair share of Turkish firearms over the years, and Canik seems to be one of the few firearms from Turkey that is fairly OK.
I for one would never buy one since I get a really cheap feeling when I hold one and I think they are butt ugly.

I have a SCCY CPX2. IMHO Caniks are 10 times better.

Bought a TP9SFX on a friend’s recommendation. It has a match barrel and the trigger pull is just over 3 lbs. Wanted a high capacity bedroom gun the wife could handle. The safety is in the trigger so all she has to do is pick it up and shoot.
Before I bought it, I searched the guns reliably and couldn’t find much negative on it. Shot it once and no complaints. Comes with a lot of accessories also, nice set up. Not a big 9mm person but this gun fits the purpose with 18 round mags, Larry

Just pulled it out of its hiding place and the mag numbers stop at 18, was curious. Must be an earlier model, looks like there is some room at the bottom but can’t push the cartridges down. Larry
Yes they are the 18 round mags with extended base plates from factory. Hence 20 round capacity.

Excellent, reliable firearms. I liked the two I used to have. Only negative is they were too light for me. Traded them for S&W 3rd Gens.

The only modern semi auto I own is a Canik TP9V2 and it is awsome! I call it my Glock killer. For under $300 you get everything you may need to go with it, a holster, 2- 18 round magazines, cleaning rod, 2 different grip attachments, a mag loader and case. There was a lot of talk about the decocker but believe me you have to push the button on top very firmly to decock gun. I do not see what the big deal is because the first trigger pull is double action so even if a cartridge is loaded in chamber and you accidentally decock it then you simply have the longer double action trigger pull. Any succeeding shots will be with the single action trigger pull which is quite nice. Also if it is alredy cocked then you only have the first pull in the short single action trgger pull.So with one in chamber, you have 19 rounds that should be enough to hit anything. I have over 3000 rounds through mine without a single problem. Canik themselves is a highly rated facility they make military arms from 9mm all the way up to rockets. I forget the rating system but it has the top military grade rating. Great gun for a self defense carry around or home defense!

I don't get it? What is the matter with the parts? $2.99 for a spring? Is that horrible? Besides all new owners get a Limited Lifetime Warranty just like S&W's do. Mine after 5 years and thousands of rounds runs like a top. If you have to be cool and tactical with the "IN" crowd then maybe a Glock is the way to go.

Seems we're on different pages here. I'm a happy Canik owner myself. It's the Glock Fanboy who inferred parts were easier to get for Glocks. I was just linking to a site that showed him otherwise. That, plus nowhere in the topic/OP did he ask for Glock advice, but as we all know the diehards can't help themselves.

Had a Canik TP9DA 9mm and loved it !! I did sell it because after carrying it (AIWB) for a short time, it was just too big and printed badly (for my body style). I really hated to sell it !!, but I don’t keep what I don’t use. I purchased it because it had a decocker. It came with 2-18 round mags and a holster plus other items (view Youetube Videos).

I have a range buddy that had one. He re-springed it at 20k rounds and again at 40K and then it started spitting brass to his face. Multiple attempts to fix and he traded it for a Sarsilmaz. He had to try another Turkish pistol. He his using the Sarsilmaz with no issue.

Anyhow, he shot at my local steel match regularly and the pistol performed well, near the end of the season he started to have problems. A part would break or something. Canik was very eager to fix it and they did, but then something else would break. Again, the factory was eager to send him required parts etc. The end result was he was very soured on the gun. Last I saw him he was using a Glock.
I ended-up not changing what I was carrying so I stopped thinking about them. I expect he had a lemon.

I have a Tristar C100, which is a Canik-made copy CZ75 Compact.
It was sprung a bit heavy, but after a CGS spring set it has a trigger comparable to my SRT SIG P229 if not better.
Canik makes a whole lot of gun for the money. I've become a Hi Power fanatic or else mine would get a lot more holster time.

Have one. No problems. Very accurate. Accessories that come with pistol are useful but holster not so much.

I have a TP9v2, and it's been flawless from day one. I'm not a huge striker/polymer gun fan, so it's going to go away one of these days. I do love the TriStar Canik made CZ clones, and I have a couple of those, and they are great too..
