CANS OR BOTTLES?

I had a few friends over on the 4th. Somehow we got into a
discussion about beer in cans or bottles. It seems the vast
majority prefer bottles. Saying the reason is it stays colder.
Well I never let my beer set long enough to get warm, so I
really don't care as long as it's a Coors Banquet.
They used to put their Banquet in snubby bottles, but recently
when I was looking for it, all I could find are the cans. It's
still just as good as from the bottle.

I would say that just considering the experience of drinking the beer... just sitting there and enjoying the beer... I prefer bottles.

I guess this is because I like the feel of the bottle in my hand, and when it touches my lips for a drink. I also think bottles look better.

On the other hand, cans are certainly easier to deal with both before and after the drinking experience. They are easier to transport, can be stacked, don't break, take up less room, and are simpler and lighter to dispose of.

I buy both. Don't drink much beer these days so if I have the choice I usually buy bottles.

Truth be told, though, I prefer to drink beer from a glass or a mug.

One of the age-old comparison questions. Kinda like Ford vs. Chevy or 9mm vs 45. (Note that I left MOPAR and 40 S&W out in the cold.)

I'll happily drink beer out of a can or a bottle, but I prefer bottles. And just like Onomea, I would rather pour it into a glass.

Now that Coors "beer" crazyphil mentions is downright acceptable from a frozen mug; drink it fast before it starts to warm up and you can taste it! I may be a beer snob. No diet beer for me!

30 packs are easier to transport and fit nicely in the fridge. I have a can crusher and recycle. Bottles take up too much room in my trash cans and create quite the din when the trash man dumps them into his truck at 0700 on Friday's.

I'm just being considerate.

Here in Australia cans or bottles have equal value, 10 cents each when handed in at a re-cycling center.

I remember when you couldn't get Coors in the eastern U.S. The company I worked for had their own fleet of tractor-trailers to ship product all over the country. Every year for the company picnic, one of the trucks would bring a bunch of Coors back from Colorado. Because it was not readily available here, we thought it was the best beer ever.

And for the record, cold beer just seems to taste better from a bottle.

Ah yes,..........
the days of the "Pony" or half keg in the ice box were fun times
for use in the 70's.

Never did the "Keg parties" since we liked the other "Stuff" a lot and we had to balance things out.

Even did the Galvi wash tub full of soda, ice cubes and booze on
our college ski trips, behind the adult supervision, in the motel rooms.

I have gone in cycles. It was bottles for a long time, but cans are so handy and don't break if dropped. I do compromise and drink Coors out of the 16 ounce aluminum cans. Some people refer to these and other items as "aluminum bottles" I think screwing the cap back on keeps it colder longer.

I am ok with either cans or bottles from a taste perspective but go with cans at home for the reasons mentioned above. The local golf course sells the 16-ounce aluminum bottles which they keep really cold. I like them as well, but they are too tall for my can crusher.

If I am out at a restaurant or bar, I prefer draught in a chilled / frosted mug.

Bottles, and always have been that way. Have not had beer from a can in decades. Shiner Bock longnecks in a zip-up koozie. US style lager from Shiner in a frosty glass mug. Shiner Bohemian Black Lager in a room temperature glass mug. I do not drink much at all away from the house any more.

I won't drink a beer out of a can. I will pour it in a glass and let it sit a few minutes, though. The can seems to give it a "too carbonated" flavor. I'll drink beer out of bottles until I can't get up to pee, though. That's when I know it's time to quit.

Don't think I'm a lush, though. That's only about three beers. Cheap drunk and all that, you know. Plus, my prostate has been reamed out, so it don't take long to have to go anyway.

I am not a big beer drinker, maybe a dozen or so per year for me. On the rare occasion I do have a beer it's either from a bottle or a tap and has to be ice cold. Beer out of a can just doesn't do it for me! Since I drink so little beer, the added cost of the bottles is not an issue.

Neither .... I run with kegs.
If glass breakage is a concern ... Red Solo cup to the rescue.
If you're guests are better described as refined... Chilled 16 oz glass mugs

Another vote here for draft beer. After that I prefer bottled beer.

An old timer taught me to drink my beer from a small glass. What is left the bottle stays colder while you drink from the glass.

Luckily I taught myself to drink water instead.
