Cant please everybody...

When I went to Gander Mountain to ask about the Hi Points, he had me hold one and said "One of the world's only gun where pistol whipping is most likely your best option" Granted, I didn't shoot it, but it did feel like a club in my hand, with about as much balance and poise as a sumo ballerina. The sdve, on the other hand, felt like I was holding a gun.
I know this is just another worthless opinion, but I want to throw this out there. I'm not gonna sneer at someone just because they own a Hi Point, just the same as I don't make fun of someone who owns a Fiero (unless they want my help fixing it). If it works for you, then by all means get it and to Gehenna what everyone else thinks. But, if it doesn't work, then why keep it?

I'll go with....

If it works it works. My first double stack gun was a Ruger P89. People still tell me it's a ***, and poke fun at me about it. It is accurate and has never had a stoppage or malfunction in thousands of rounds of shooting cheap range ammo. It is also the smoothest shooting 9mm I've come across. It's ugly and bulky, but is primarily a range gun, and has served its purpose well.

There are a lot of elitists out there. Buy what you can afford and shoot it well. I'd avoid Jimenez, Cobra, Jennings, and other such brands as they have poor long term durablity and are questionable out of the box.

I'll go with a Rohm any day.:D

So here is my thing...and I am really confused about this. I owned a a HiPoint for a while, but gun forums were encouraging me to save some money and get something reliable, so I did. I saved up some money and got a S&W SD9 VE. Now I am hearing a few antagonists spouting they are not that great...Well...is it a good gun or not? If I've gone from **** to **** then maybe I'll sell it and go get me [2] HiPpoints...

You are right, you can't please everybody. You can always find something wrong with everything. I don't know of anything that is perfect. I just bought a M1A match rifle. Is it a nice rifle, YES, is it perfect, NO! There are always compromises. If it was perfect, I could not afford it, no one could.
