Anybody have experience with this stuff? I saw it on eBay & it claims to polish nickel & SS, which is what I want. I need to hand polish a 66 & a nickle 19 that have some light surface patches. What do you recommend besides Flitz or Simichrome?

I have always used Mothers with good results.

It was made to remove tarnish from silverware and brass. It can also polish but not like a metal polish.A lot of misguided collectors in the watch world use this by mistake, and end up polishing minor scratches for hours to remove. Use Flitz or Mothers to get the job done right .

I also swear by mother mag polish for stainless guns. Cheap, readily available and works wonders with very little effort. That said, I've never used it on nickle. I'd be concerned that any true "polish" might wear through to the copper/base. I'd be real careful with that nickle finish.
p.s A grey ScothBrite pad will give you a satin/brushed finish on polished stainless if your not a fan of the shine.

I've used the Cape Cod Polishing Cloths, it works great if your goal is to make your gun shine. If you're trying to remove scratches then you need something else. I used mine to turn an old M65 into a light saber. The gun looked great.

I use Mother's Mag Polish on all my stainless revolvers. I would not use it on nickel. It is a very mild abrasive, but it still takes a small bit of metal off during polish sessions. AND it works great on aluminum wheels.

The best polish I have found is Flitz. Simply put, it is mild but effective. Be advised, even though they say it is safe for Bluing and Nickel, it is a very mild abrasive in the end and will eventually thin out a guns finish. Use sparingly and apply by hand only - no power tools.

Some here like Simi-chrome and I did buy a can to try. To me the Simi-chrome does not even hold a candle to Flitz and in fact I find it all but useless. Flitz is the way to go IMHO.

Thanks guys. I have some Flitz & Simichrome out in the shop & I may have some Mothers. I'll have to check. It may be McGuire's.

Does Mothers leave a stainless or nickel look when done?

Mothers leaves a polished look, similar to nickle bordering on chrome if you work it enough. ( The 624 appears to be worked well with Mothers) How much shine you get depends on how much polishing you do. Again, there are ways to bring it back to satin if you prefer.

Mothers and Flitz certainly have the capability of making a stainless gun look like nickel. It just depends on how much time and effort you put into the job. I personally do not like a high polish on a stainless gun. I prefer a factory finish look. However, I do use both products as a cleaning aid. I use it on the end of my index finger and lightly apply in a circular motion for just a few seconds or until the polish and my finger turn black. That's enough for me. The gun will be clean and bright but not glossy or mirror-like. Then put a coat of Ren Wax on both the gun and the stocks to protect your efforts from fingerprints, etc.

Another good polish is a German product called Autosol Chrome Polish. Similar to Simichrome. Can be hard to get though - I used to get it at Kovals Knife supplies and got my last off of ebay.
