Car accident: This is gonna be interesting

Just be thankful to God that your Daughter was unharmed. The other stuff is just an annoyance. I like those older Crown Victoria's too.
Peace,
Gordon

Came to find out, they were related. The witness was purposely following him.

I would be up the creek if not for an on-comming truck driver stopping and also submitting his name for a witness.

How would you be "up the creek"? Good witness behind him or not, it doesn't change that you were rear ended and the other driver is almost automatically at fault.

It is not always what it seems in auto accidents. I got rear-ended in St Louis on the way to MT.

Pulling a small utility trailer, wet road, I had to slow and almost stop and car behind me, a Lexus, did not slow or stop....got the nose of that thing up under the little traile and really made a mess of the front end of the Lexus.

Moved over to middle of interstate, guy on passenger side of the Lexus got out, said the usual "You got no damage, no need to call the police."

Fortunately there was an off duty patrolman behind us and he pulled up, gave me and the other party specific instructions to get off at the next off ramp, proceed to the service station and wait.

We did, and the patrolman came, talked with me, and then with them.

When he said we could go he had already cuffed and placed the two of them in the back seat of the patrol car.

So in today's world you NEVER know who or what might be in the other car.

Depending on who's doing the estimate your Vic is worth between $800 and 2 Grand.... So, it's totaled :(
Find another one, if you can. Great car and, if you have your seat belt on, a very safe vehicle. The Grand Marquis is a beast too and gets 25 MPG on the highway to boot.

Man, I can't even lift a Smart Car.:D

A friend of mine has one of those. He went to downtown Atlanta in it (I said he was a friend...I DIDN'T say he was a SMART friend) and the next day was complaining how he couldn't find a parking spot for it.

I told him there was a simple solution...pick the damn thing up and put it in his pocket...

Update:
We went in on Thursday and talked to the cop who took the other drivers report. He would not at that time give me a name. He looked at the car and got my daughters story. He of course looked at her license. We did not have an insurance card in the car so I called my agent and had them fax one. Friday the officer emailed me and said he did not get the fax. He also wanted my daughters drivers license number. I replied I was standing
next to him when she gave him her DL . I gave him the number and had my agent fax another insurance card. This morning he emailed me and said he got the fax at 0700 this morning.:rolleyes
I got the other drivers name and called her, and recorded it. She admitted she is at fault.
Now I just have to get Flo from Progressive to send a check.

Hire a laywer, that will get everyone's attention quick---the fact that the other guy hit and ran can't do his case any good.
olcop

This is a last resort. Otherwise, he can't talk to his insurance agent, claims adjustor, the police, the other party, or anyone else...ONLY the attorney. This brings your claims process to a grinding halt. I worked for Farmers for almost 10 years.

Just report it to your insurance company. They'll take it from there. That and bill collecting are two things in which they excel.

What I'm surprised at is the fact that you are still paying for collision insurance on a 97 Crown Vic.

I gotta agree with that. I bet your settlement won't amount to the total premiums you've paid over the last two years. And you're probably gonna get cancelled. Although they might ask if you've got a 96 Crown Vic you'd like to get collision and comp on . .
