Carpal Tunnel Surgery

I had C-T surgery about 5 o'clock Monday afternoon, and the "numb" is wearing off. I don't know whether to take a lortab or just a strong dose of Evan Williams. The Doc said his patients usually don't have much pain, but I might because the nerve was so inflamed. Not too bad now, but some mild discomfort.

I fooled around and waited too long. The nerve conduction test showed that the damage is "severe" in both hands. The Doc and the therapist who did the test seem to think I'll eventually get most of the feeling back in both hands. I had the left hand done today, and will get the right one done in about six weeks.

I had spinal fusion at L-5/S-1 in March '06, shoulder joint replacement in Oct. '07, and now this. Getting old ain't for sissies.

had mine done 2 1/2 yrs ago. had severe damange also hands would go to sleep EVERY nite and made me lose tons of sleep.
when they gave me a nerve impulse test , they said it was the worst they had seen in a LONG time !

i also have some sort of disease in my thumbs that mostly women only get ( 90% of those who get this are women )
i am one of the unlucky 10% of males who get it.

will have to address it sooner or later andd i am not kooling forward to it .

Carpel tunnel surgery both hands multiple trigger finger injections several fingers and now one finger need surgery to correct the trigger finger fortunately its not really my trigger finger.

You should have good results from the carpal surgery it took a lot of months of healing but was well worth it. For quite a while heavy recoiling handguns hurt the palm which was probably badly bruised but in time it got better.

I too put off the surgical repair for way longer than any but an idiot would have endured.

Total success, 100% recovery after years and YEARS of agony.

Had the right hand done about 10 years ago, healed up nicely, cannot even see the scar. All the pain is gone, but I am is so much pain from the back and neck that I probably don't notice it. The viet cong fixed the left hand. I vote for Wild Turkey 101, it's a good pain reliever. Took about a month to heal after the surgery. You should heal OK. Lots of luck with it.

I lucked out... my doc put me on a daily regimen of 800mg of Ibuprofen for a month, and it turned out to be a sever case of tendinitis. I sure wish that was discovered BEFORE I had the nerve conduction test.

Don't know about the rest of you, but to me that test felt like it must have been invented by some exiled Nazi SS officer that enjoyed his hobby as a kid pulling the wings off of flies... it had me flopping around like a fish.

Same here. But the surgery was well worth it. Hope you have a quick recovery.

I had mine done on the Wed before Thanksgiving a few years ago.

I was back to work on the following Monday and felt great.

I shouldn't have waited so long for mine either.
