HELP ! We want to use our rifle in NRA competition. This requires a carry handle and a front sight. It needs to be National Match 1/4 MOA wind and elevation with a hooded rear aperture of about .055 and a NM sight post of .060. We can get the NM sights allright, but whose carry handle and sight tower will fit properly ?

armalite.com has a set of NM sights/carry handle. They are pricey! The front sight is a clamp on style as well.

The M&P10 will only qualify for Match Rifle classification. You can use any sights you wish. They don't have to be carry handle.

Unless you have an extremely accurate M&P 1/2 MOA sights are more than adequate. Even then, you will lose points counting come ups with 1/4 MOA sights because you will lose count.

Dude, You are mis-informed !

Look up NRA Rule 3.6.1..........legal with carry handle...etc.

The M&P 10 is not externally identical to the M-110 or any other issued U.S. rifle, is not identical to other nations issued rifle, and is 7.62 NATO. You are out of Service Rifle and back to Match or Any Rifle matches.

I put Armalite AR10 carry handle w/A2-type rear sight w/windage and elevation and an A2 front sight (both clamp-on) I had to modify one of the clamp bolts but it fits fine and it's rock solid. The reason for the modification was due to the fact the S&W pickitinney rail has one less notch to accommodate the clamp bolt due to the distance between them. I used a dremmel and ground out the clamp bolt flush with the surface on the underside of the handle. Fits fine rock solid. Takes minimal skill but attention to detail is important to prevent damage to the handle itself. The quality is superb but the price is high ($200.00). I went to the trouble because I like the ease of use and familiarity I have with this set up after being an Infantry Marine for 8 years. It's not for everybody. I want optics but need to finish my m&p 15 project first then save $$$ for more projects later. I hope this helps.

NRA LEGAL SOLUTION

I bought an Armalite NM carry handle,,,the only one available with the NM sight, Troy industries front sight, M4 also, it is designed for a single plane rail mount,,,,every one elses is too high and is not a "standard M16 design"...Making the Armalite carry handle work did require some machining.
The new NRA service rifle rule, 3.1.6 can be found online with a simple search.
This will make my M&P 10, legal for NRA ( not CMP ).....this rifle does not have to appear as an M110. Check it out with USAMU !

Isn't your front sight too high to zero ???

Carry handle front sight

Isn't your front sight too high to zero ???
Nope. Two different front sight heights available but with the big 10 both the upper receiver rail and stock gas block rail being on the same plane the low-profile front sight works. The taller front sight is too tall and wouldn't work as far as I can tell. The stubby front sight is sorta weird looking but does the job for me. Maybe I'm doing something completely wrong... But I'm hitting paper where I want to (though my '10 is picky on ammo) I guess I didn't really think about it. I appreciate your input.
