Finally getting around to getting my CWP and looking at different methods of carry. I have a 9c and Ruger LCP custom.

Picked up a couple of holsters today. A Blackhawk Tuckable for the LCP and a DeSantis Inside Heat for my 9c. I tried the Inside Heat for Appendix carry and man it's comfortable! I know there are numerous threads on appendix carry and I read a number of them. Best tip I saw was use a good holster and holster the gun while it is outside of your pants. Comments welcome on appendix carry please.

PS-Just re-anted up for a paid membership, (had one before).

What a great site! :D

I used to carry IWB/appendix until back and hip problems came along with age. Since then it's been all front pocket carry w/a Galco holster for both my Model 37 and M&P .380. Also have an upside down shoulder holster for the J frame and plan to use that for road trips.

I carry IWB/appendix and use two holsters, If I wear a belt then I use a Blade-tech kydex holster , or if no belt I use a Remora holster.

If you want to carry concealed, I would recommend for comfort and durability a well made IWB holster not off the shelf stuff.
Here I few kydex hybrid holsters.

Concealed Carry Hybrid IWB Holsters from White Hat - MaxTuck

My favorite which I own two.....

MTAC Holster | Comp-Tac Victory Gear

But make sure if you purchase one to soften/condition the leather.
This is how I condition my leather holsters... I soften my units using Olive Oil (Commercially there a lot of products available good example Leather Honey but olive oil is in most kitchens as well as mineral oil) and if it is a hybrid I wrap the unit around a post and let it set for 24 hours.

BTW I also carry Compacts for everyday carry either S&W MPC.357c Sig(exactly the same footprint as the 9c) and once in a while S&W MP.45c APC

Carry my Shield in an MTR iwb holster on my right hip. Most comfortable carry I have found. Love the MTR rig.

Used to carry IWB but stopped due to "a change in physique". Switched to pocket carry with a Desantis holster. Works great as long as your pocket has enough room for the holster.

I usually wear a long sleeve dress shirt tucked on top of a t-shirt. The kangaroo holster on top of the t-shirt is my best/comfortable option for being concelled. Currently carry a Ruger lc9s.

It would be easier to tell you how I don't carry.

Don't carry IWB much, maybe 2% of the time. Uncomfortable, especially if bending or sitting, and see no advantage over a good pancake holster OWB. I hear about people carrying AIWB a lot in forums, but I don't understand the reason why anyone would subject themselves to the discomfort when OWB works just as well.

Don't pocket carry at all. I hate the feel of car keys in my pocket, and if I ever get so fat that I can buy pants with pockets big enough for a handgun, I'll lose the weight first.

I carry IWB/OWB at 5 with a Wright Leather Cobra which is dual carry inside & outside .. also carry at 5 with a GX IWB holster by Garret Industries that's with my 40c ..

I carry my Berretta PX4 9mm Sub-Compact either at 3, 5 or 11 or 1 in several leather Beretta Holster's .. the Gx can also be carried at both 11 and 1 with my 40 ..

We are lucky in Illinois in that our law says concealed or partially concealed so if we print we don't have to worry about a ticket .. But I always make sure I am completely concealed never printing ..

Yes I holster my weapon before attaching to my belt in the appendix position .. is just safer or least I feel it is safer doing it that way .. I also holster the cobra and have it on my pants before putting them on .. that I feel is also safer but each their own I have done it by holstering after having it on .. your holster should enable you to do it safely both ways !
