My sister and BIL built a home in Little River SC. They will be moving there next weekend. They have both retired and wanted out of New York. They also both want to get a carry permit. Researching it online it appears to be an easy process wocould take up to 90 days. I'm wondering if any real world SC residents can comment on process or length of time it takes. Here in NY it's up to about 18 months lol. Also is there any required training classes ?

I think the hold-up will be that you have to show proof of training within three years. No reciprocity with NY so that permit does not count as training. They'll have to get a CCW class. Please correct me anyone. I am in NC now, but SC born 'n bred.

There is a fine gun store/range in Myrtle Beach (actually Conway, SC.) CCW class is $100.
It is called:
The Gun Store and Indoor Range.
Phone: (843) 397-4867
email: [email protected]

I just spoke to Silva at that phone number and he can answer your questions. They are open Mon thru Sat 9AM to 8PM.
They are located about 25 minutes away from Little River. The gun store in Little River closed down and Silva said he bought some of their stuff when they closed and liquidated.

The class generally takes one day, about 6 hours. I thought it was worthwhile. SCs laws are a little different, but it is an open carry state now, it used to require "deep concealment" unless hunting or fishing. All you need to know is on the SLED site. If I recall correctly it was about six weeks after the class my permit arrived,

SC also has a permanent Hunting and Fishing license that is and incredible for seniors. That is on the SCDNR website, which has the best weatherman for severe weather that I have ever read. Worth signing up for that alone

Thank you. That is very helpful.

I love these being invaded stories.

None of us came from "here" Even those who were here before the European invasion came from somewhere else. The truth is with the "where you came from" mind set everyone should be camping somewhere in Africa.

My great great grandmother on my fathers side was a Algonquin from over by the Great lakes. Her forefathers probably got to that general area at the most 10,000 years ago FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE.

As the continent of North America is about 200,000,000 years old they were only in the area 1/20,000 of its existence compared to the French who have been there since just after 1600 and have been there 1/100,000 of its existence.

1/20,000 vs 1/100,000 Whoopee do

I won't even start on southern vs northern east coast

But, just the same, all you west coast invaders stay out of Montana. My family got here 150 years ago. LMAO

I understand this differently than you do.

What I know of these people is that they are moving here for economic reasons, e.g. housing and jobs, without understanding that it is their own liberal politics which killed jobs and raised the cost of living in the state they are leaving.
They are not voting conservative!
They do sometimes mask their disdain for Christian southerners, but on political issues such as union labor, gun control and gay marriage they do not hide their opinions.

I am happy to hear that any of them are patriots who want to live in free territory, but I have no direct personal knowledge of any such in the Carolinas especially York County.
Even worse in my opinion is the invasion of barbarians who happen to be our own children. Though born and raised here, even attending Christian schools here, yet they have wholeheartedly given themselves to pagan liberalism. Not all of them of course, but enough to break your heart. Of some of these I do have direct personal knowledge because of 40+ years in Christian education.

Your "somewhere else" point does not hold. Perhaps you understand the history of our republic differently than I do. My ancestors came here seeking the religious liberty which contemporary liberal invaders despise.
"We are not trying to stop what you do in your churches," they exclaim. But they mean for us to keep our mouths shut inside the schoolhouse, especially anyone who thinks the creation account of the Bible is factual.

Wow, from where I stand you couldn't be more wrong. I know a lot of people leaving NY for political reasons and frankly the weather. They just want government out of their lives. They are trying to escape the "Pagen Liberalism" as you put it. They're not bring it with them. They are searching for a better life. Not the same life but with more sunshine. My sister and BIL will become first time conceal carry permit holders. Why? Because in S Carolina they can. It was a long expensive process in NY. I understand what you're afraid might happen. But don't lump everyone in one basket.

Yes you are right!
I am in Winston-Salem now and there is reason to believe it is not this bad in other places. York County, SC, my boyhood home has become a bedroom community for Charlotte which is a bastion of urban liberalism, so it attracts more of the liberal types. I did not mean to give you a hypothetical of what I fear might happen, but a firsthand account of what has happened. People are taking jobs in non-union shops for example and then working actively to get them organized. Recently in another example, the Freedom Caucus in the SC legislature proposed a prohibition against giving workforce development funds to "woke corporations". The liberals and Rinos turned that away easily. Workforce development money is designed to attract new workers for new jobs. I do not "fear that this may happen", I am watching it happen before my very eyes, and there is no stopping it now, especially by bemoaning the invasion.

As far as "lumping everyone" I remind you that this must be considered to be a discussion of a subject of sociology, which deals in just such generalities. A counter example does not obviate my point. My position may be invalidated by data such as comparing past voter trends and issues with current trends in SC and other states as impacted by the influx from liberal states. In Florida some such work has already been done regarding Hispanic immigrants, suggesting they are not anywhere near as liberal as their Democrat sponsors had hoped. In California Johnson and McGhee showed that the state has lost people to other states consistently since 2000. The proportion of liberals to conservatives leaving may be assumed to match the proportion of those who have been there, except for a survey of people "contemplating" leaving the state which showed that conservatives are "more likely" to consider leaving.

That said the outlook for gun rights in the Carolinas continues to be good, with major victories in both states recently. The NRA says constitutional carry is still alive in SC and the activists there say Gov. Henry McMaster will sign it. How about that, constitutional carry in SC next year?

Anyway give them our best wishes and congratulations. They are not making a mistake and they will be an asset and a blessing I am sure.

Kind regards!
