Long ago Johnny Carson quipped that California did have 4 seasons: mud, flood, fire and rain. They had rain earlier in the year, now I guess it's fire season.
I'm not really following the story, but I did catch an interview with one guy who'd now been burned out for the third time. One might think that at least after the second time, he'd have twigged that he'd chosen a bad location.
During a work assignment in Cali back in the 80's, I saw houses built in places where one wonders about the sanity of the buyers. OTOH, I don't have to drive all that far to see other folks who've made dubious choices. Maybe the price was right.
There is a difference between "I don't know if I'd have bought it." and "You gotta be ***** kidding me!"
