Looks good! I think I would just tumble lube those and shoot 'em.

They look great! I agree with Paul. Those bullets aren't going to need much lube and they will be a joy to shoot!
Is this the first session casting? If so, what did you learn? Nice to be a bit independent! Next bullet shortage, and you will have more moulds by then, you will be able to look around like the rest of us casters and say: "What shortage!"

Try sawdust, it's easy to get, cheap and forms a barrier to prevent oxidation on the melt's surface. I normally use cedar sawdust, it smells pretty good too!
With a very similar Lyman design [35891] I get my best groups lubing only one groove. With a good lube, overlubbing a wadcutter can really cut down on accuracy.

Did a little casting last week myself, some of Ranch Dog's 175g .357's.
Sorry about the crappy cell pic.
He has a Marlin 1894 .357 and I worked up a box of 100 for him. I loaded 50 making 5 each using W296 and started in at 15.5g and worked up in .1g increments using RD's data. I also used Lyman 358156 and did the same thing - total 100.

I use Gulf paraffin, do the same as you do, with the same results.
Using bullet lube works too. I have a stick right by the pot and sometimes I use it.
I need to try the sawdust thing that Paul mentions.

This was the hottest summer on record here in Oklahoma, turning that pot on hasn't been a high priority untill a few weeks ago. When I picked up my 19-6 at the beginning of August I needed something to feed it so I could prepare for the Firearms Instructor School entry course of fire. Finally cooled down enough to start casting bullets.
As for the saw dust thing, that is not the first time I have read that, however my wife has a thing for candles so I currently have an endless supply of old ones.

I have boxes of paraffin from duck hunting days, so I use that.
I touch it to the stainless spoon I use to stir the lead and let it drip into the pot. Fast & easy.
