No offense intended, but, the moderator's on this board REALLY need to develop a sense of humor ! I really didn't think my other post was that bad. Is this one a little more to your liking ? BTW, how do you add icons/smilies to the body of a message ?

Stress Management

Just in case you are having a rough day, here is a stress management technique recommended in all the latest psychological journals. The funny thing is that it really does work and will make you smile..

1. Picture yourself lying on your belly on a warm rock that hangs out over a crystal clear stream..
2. Picture yourself with both your hands dangling in the cool running water.
3. Birds are sweetly singing in the cool mountain air.
4. No one knows your secret place.
5. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place called the world.
6. The soothing sound of a gentle water fall fills the air with a cascade of serenity.
7. The water is so crystal clear that you can easily make out the face of the person you are holding underwater.

There!! See? It really does work... You're smiling already.

No, it's not working for me. I didn't catch your first attempt at humor, but after reading this one, I'm tending to side with the moderators (nice people, I think).

Stress management? I shoot things.

Your handle fits well.

I thought it was worth a chuckle. I've also had days when I would like to waterboard some co-workers who exhibit a strong tendancy to take shortcuts that I end up having to fix.

that joke was going around a few yrs ago when mrs. clinton was a Senator from NY.
And as a word of advice,, "dont bite the hand that feeds you", as far as the mods are concerned. may haps you'll end up like me ,standin in the middle of the room wondering ""what'd i do wrong this time"?

2wierd, your ok, as I like to say, no good ever came out of hanging around with normal people!

Welcome aboard, 2weird.

Since you asked:

Your first "humor" post was flushed because of two reasons:

1) Sexual preference reference/overtones
2) Political punchline

Read the "rules" sticky, please. We do NOT discuss poltics and we do not allow posts containing sexual overtones.

Some members have children that are young shooters who also maybe peeking over their parents' shoulder "looking at the puctures of guns." These parents do not need the S&W Forum causing them grief having to explain why there are photos of "babes with guns," or "Little Johnny" jokes, or posts about alternative lifestyles. It is up to parents to introduce such topics to their children when and where they see appropriate. This is the way the forum Administrator wants things; he's the owner, he pays the broadband hosting bill, it's his sandbox, and his to run as he sees fit. the board exists PRIMARILY as a forum for enthusiasts of S&W firearms to communicate with each other, learn from each other, and enjoy the guns. If the Administrator wants a G-Rated board, it's a G-Rated board, and the other mods and I say, "Aye, aye, sir" K?

For detailed 411 about expectations here, I'd suggest you review the "Read the Rules" sticky at the top of the Lounge forum if you have not already.

Humor is in the ear of the beholder. What one person thinks funny, another may think it to be sick or inappropriate. In my opinion, the best stand-up comedians can get through a 90-minute show without resorting to the F-word once. Those comedians who use the F-word in every sentance are not funny, IMO.

FWIW, I have a slightly warped, dry sardonic sense of humor that I have to keep in check most of the time. Think "British" or Monty Python, or read some of member Sipowicz' posts, for example.

Best wishes,

Noah

First off, thank you for the explanation of why my first post was deleted. I do appreciate your taking the time to explain in detail the reasons, rather than just post the usual "Follow the Rules" type reply. I do agree with you that humor IS a highly subjective, and very much a personal matter and I do sometimes forget this. For what it's worth,no offense intended,I've seen other "sexual reference/overtone" posts that were,in my opinion far worse than mine and more than a few "political" comments that have gone unchallenged. Guess that it all depends on who makes the post . That said, I do agree with your statement that the board exists mainly for discussion of S&W products, and I'll try and confine myself to that. BTW, as you like British humor, here's an old Benny Hill quote for you.
"The odds against there being a bomb on a plane are a million to one, and against two bombs a million times a million to one. Next time you fly, cut the odds and take a bomb."

Come on folks, you all need to lighten up.
It's an old joke with different charactors. Sometimes we all feel like that. Geesh.

There is a red triangular icon at the top right corner of every post. It's used to report offensive posts, posts in the wrong sub-forum, etc. If you see a post that is, in your opinion, worthy of being reported, please do so. Only the administrators and moderators will know who reported the post. The reported post will be reviewed and the appropriate action taken. We may or may not agree with you regarding the reported post but at least you will have the satisfaction of knowing that it was reviewed.

As for the implication that some offensive posts are allowed to remain based solely on who made the post, that is completely untrue. The moderators do not have the luxury of being able to read every thread and each response. To a great degree, we rely on the members to self police the forum. If an offensive thread is posted and none of the members reports it, there's a possibility that it will slip by.

You are quite welcome. And it is completely understood that you did not have malicious intent in making the first post.

"The odds against there being a bomb on a plane are a million to one, and against two bombs a million times a million to one. Next time you fly, cut the odds and take a bomb."

Good stuff, there. I remember that one.

I like "Red Green" too. My wife doesn't get it at all.

Thanks!

Noah

2Weird,
personally, I think your posts are fine. I like your sense of humor. But, I do not run the forum. I have been flagged a couple of times. Humor is many times, just a question of taste and personal preferences. Something funny to one, may be offensive to another.

Bottomline, his forum, his rules.

Yeah Sip.
But at least when they're removing yours, they're funny?
When they remove mine, it's for them being in bad taste.
I like your reason better!

I deleted your first joke for the very reasons Noah spoke.

The Rules here are as concise as I can get them at this time and still convey the tone we strive for.

Stated simply, don't post a word or pic here that you would not use, where people know who you are, in mixed company with ladies and children present. I realize those standards may have changed, but in my younger years they were well understood by all of our society.

Stated even simpler, keep it clean and keep it civil and don't take offense at every possible opportunity.
That's all we ask.
