I'm with "old cop" on the J frame.
But since it is sort of a rock...I say find a pair of Street Bricks! Nothing says "I'm ginna pound you too dust like a Street Brick!;) Dale

d. All of the above.
But really .380 because my beloved Mdl 37. 1 7/8#isn't included in your reindeer games and i have no exp w/ the 351 PD.

351pd with the new ammo wins

:)With the new, seldom discussed, loads specifically made for a 2" barrel the 351 wins hands down due to its reliability and quick recovery second(or more) shot ability. From what I've read the new rounds by Winchester, Hornady and Speer equal the .380 but no semi-auto is going to have the reliability of a revolver which could be fired thru your pocket if required.

I will take other. If I can't carry Two 357 Snubs or One 357 and One 38+P, I would stay home.

NAA 22 mag 1 5/8. I have a sw 649, 380 PPK,380 Bodyguard,mp 9c and a 9mm shield. Usually carry the 649 or the shield butwill have the 22mag along with either one plus the Bodyguard. I would have to say the 22 just because it always seems to be in the combination. Would it stop anyone probably not but it would make them think about it and at the point I would use it results would be better than a rock. jmho

Arizona for a month, 110 degree heat. It gets hot and very humid around here in the summer (though not AZ hot), so I doubt I'd dress much differently than I do here in the summer. I'm not a fan of shorts, so probably mostly khakis (lighter than jeans) and occasionally jeans (mostly at night) with a short sleeve sport shirt or polo, occasionally t-shirt. When/if riding (motorcycle) it would be jeans, t-shirt, and mesh jacket. I usually like to wear tucked shirts, so I'd need something that could be pocketed or that would disappear in a tuckable IWB. Since I'd be there a month, I'd probably go to synagogue a few times so I'd also need something that can disappear in a suit (pocket carry in a suit demands as small as possible since I find my suit pants pockets tend to print). Further, add real life to it (most of my cousins and other relatives out west are very liberal and not particularly gun friendly) and I'd need something that conceals as well as possible.

If I had to pick from what my cousin had to lend me, it would probably be the Kahr (I trust .380 in a pocket pistol), and maybe the S&W 351 (.22mag can make a nice defensive round) depending upon how much time we were going to spend at the range so I could get familiar with it. If we weren't going to spend time at the range, I'd probably go with the knife and/or pepper spray.

Since you throw "other" into your options, I can answer with the more realistic answer as well. I'm a teacher and off during the summer, so I can have some time. I'd probably drive instead of fly so I could: 1) avoid dealing with airport security, and 2) get to see much of the landscape of our great country (in fact, I'd likely take the long route, and probably ride my motorcycle). If I didn't fly, I could take what I wanted of my own guns. Given the concealment needs and weather, I'd pick a J-frame (my Taurus 85CH or S&W 442), Kel Tec PF-9, or SIG P290RS and conceal it in a tuckable IWB (Galco Tuck-n-Go for the J-frames, Theis hybrid for the SIG, De Santis Sof-Tuck for the PF-9) . Maybe my LCP for pocket carry.

Chaim -
if you had to pick just one of your guns, which one is it?

Hard question.

I don't have enough rounds through my PF-9 yet to trust it yet for defensive use. Once I do, should it prove reliable enough, it is a nice combination of size (I think it may still be the thinnest production 9mm out there), weight (under 18oz loaded), capacity (7+1) and caliber. It can be pocketed nicely and completely disappears IWB. So, probably the PF-9.

Until then, it is close. The SIG is just as nice IWB, though a bit heavy in the pocket (though it can be pocketed in the right pants). Same with the all steel Taurus 85CH, and I do love my snubs, but I shoot semis much better in the small guns than I shoot my snubs. The 442 pocket carries nicely, and with the 15oz weight and J-frame size and profile, is probably my most comfortable IWB gun. But in addition to shooting small autos better than my snubs, the 15oz weight in .38spl can be brutal when shooting good defensive rounds (meaning relatively slow follow-up shots). The LCP is a fun gun (I love it), and it can completely disappear in any clothing style. However, it is only .380 (the minimum caliber I trust for self-defense), not 9mm or .38+P, and the sights, well it would be nice if it had sights.

So, probably the PF-9 if I can only bring one, once it is proven. Until then, it is pretty much a toss-up since they all have advantages and disadvantages when compared with the others.

.22 mag or .380 are not "stand-and-fight" calibers. Their best use is suppressive fire as you try to run away.

I would choose the Bowie knife - if legal. In the event you have to present a weapon to bad guys, that is the most likely to get their attention.

If you insist on a gun, ask your cousin which of the ones offered has the most flash and bang. That is where their value lies. The bullet doesn't matter - it ain't going to stop anyone, anyway.

flash and bang between the .22 mag and the .380 is about a wash.
I'm ok to run away ... I'd rather a .45 but that will be a diff poll. A couple or five .22 mags center mass will be a surprise.
