cc on skyline dr and blueridge pkwy

I'm planning a trip this summer to Va. and then along the skyline dr into NC. I have my Fl permit which is good in both states. Is cc on this road prohibited in NC? The reason I ask, is it looks like I might be in state park/forest in NC. Or is it National park/forest?

I frankly don't know if concealed carry is legal or not on those roads. I do know that I won't travel them unarmed. Beautiful roads, but too much seriously bad stuff has happened on all sections of them through the years. Not recommending it for anyone else, just what I think.

I went hiking off of Skyline Drive this past December in Virginia (near Stanardsville). When I got back to the B&B the host asked what trail I had been on, I told him and he proceeded to ask if I saw or smelled the bears. Apparently there is a bear's den right next to the trail I hiked, and it smells real bad. Talk about oblivious: I hiked the whole trail and didn't see or smell anything out of the ordinary.

Anyways, I assume you want to carry for two-legged critters, but watch out for four-legged ones as well.

Couple of decades ago I spent lots of time on land adjacent to various parts of Shenandoa NP.

Often saw bears BEFORE hunting season, as well as several denning-living areas. ALL bears I saw were eager to depart, once they knew I was there. Don't know if that would be same well inside park. Momma with cubs likely to be a different situation, in any case. These bears were overflow from the park and mostly went back into park during hunting season.

Also now and then saw places where two-legged critters had used these remote areas, inside and outside the park, for extended times and in ways not consistant with ordinary one-two week campers. Never found any active sites.

I was always armed.
