CC Renewal once again....

Mine's up in December here in Virginia. The Clerk of the Circuit Court, who issues these, has raised the price from $5.00 to $50.00 for a five-year permit, but I understand we're going to get fancy-schmancy holographic plastic permits instead of the chintzy paper ones they have issued up till now. It used to be you walked in, signed the affidavit, paid your five bucks, and the assistant clerk printed out the permit and gave it to you on the spot. With the new high-tech permits, who knows how long it will take.

$80.00 here....plastic laminated printed card...no photo......
Now my Florida CC license is "Fancy" with color photo.........
 
One of the many good things about living in Indiana is my carry permit is good for life. Even free to update should you move but there is a $20 fee if you want a new plastic card with new address on it.
 
About $50 here for a DL like license. However it takes about 5 min if you go to the courthouse where the main sheriff's office is. If you go to one of the sub stations it takes about a week or two depending on how busy they are. Someone has to drive it up, gets processed then driven back.

"Good for life" .....brings up a question...what happens when a good for life permit carrier does something that would disqualify him for a cc permit....thanks for the info......

In GA, ours are good for five years. Renewed mine this year and it took two weeks.

Glad I DON'T HAVE to renew my CCW but I do.
To visit states that require state permission to carry concealed.
In Missouri renewal is $50.00 for 5 years.
Make appointment with county sheriff, walk out in 10 minutes.
No need for Missouri citizens who don't travel out of state to get state permission to exercise our 2nd Amendment right to carry concealed or open.

In my county here in Colorado, renewal involves going to the sheriff's office with completed forms (and requisite fees), submitting them, speaking with a deputy who does a background check and having the renewed permit issued on the spot.

Took 45 minutes the last two times I've done it.

Texas CC renewals are online now, or at least it was the last time I had to renew. I received a letter about 6 months before my CC expired. Just went online and had the new one a few weeks later.

In Indiana, I recently got my LIFETIME carry permit.

Step 1; fill out the IN State Police form on line and pay them $40 by CC online.

Step 2; Get an online appointment with electronic fingerprint service, gave them ISP
permit application number and paid them $25 online.
Got appt. within an hour of logging onto electronic FP site, went and got printed and given reciept.

Step 3; Call local PD and make appointment (next day).
Gave State Police application number, fingerprint reciept and $60
and within 2 weeks, had Lifetime carry permit in mail.
ISP even emailed me when application was approved!

Total cost $125 and about an hour of my time and 14 days from start to finish.

Easiest, fastest and most expensive carry permit I've ever done.
The best part? I'll never have to do it again!

Utah non-resident permits are easy to renew. Fill out the form, upload recent passport-style pic, and provide a CC#. Fifteen bucks for five years, if memory serves. Shows up in the mail in a coupla weeks.

(Haven’t had my Oregon permit long enough to know what renewal entails. Getting it was about a four-month wait from submitting application by mail to receiving the CHL in the mail. Visit to the county sheriff’s office about three months in, scheduled per that office’s convenience. That’s Multnomah County. I understand other counties are quicker.)

I've never heard of being able to do that, but I will ask. We are a very small community and I eat breakfast most mornings right across the street from the courthouse, so walking over to see the Clerk isn't exactly a hardship.
 
Don't know, no one in Illinois has had a permit for long enough to expire yet! Mine (and a lot of others) will be up for renewal in early 2019. I understand it will require 8 hours of training review, new changes, and qualification. Don't know the price yet, I heard around $100.
 
Since the first license issued in Illinois was in 2014 and expires in 2019 no one in Illinois has applied for renewal yet since none have expired and aren't due to till 2019 ..

A 3 hour course and live fire will be the requirements unless the law is change ..ISP will have 90 days to approve the application .. if electronic finger prints were submitted the first time that is waved on the renewal ..

No idea how much the class will cost but the renewal fee will be the same as the first application .. a $150 dollars for 5 years ..

Oklahoma called it a Concealed Weapn License until the legislature approved Open Carry. Now it just reads: Handgun License. Renewal can take up to 90 days with a 90 day grace period. I did mine on line for the next 5 years with a credit card and my own photo for $85.00.

You have no idea how easy you have it.

Back when I got my first DE Special License (1991) it took me over a year to go thru the process and probably cost me over $1000.

It required you to take their State approved course (I think it was 30 or 40 hours, with qualification), then you had to get fingerprinted, place an add in a paper that declared you were applying for a carry license, and then get paperwork filled out & signed by 5 registered voters from within your voting district that would confirm you were a good person (etc) to get a carry license (which you had to take to the voting board and have them confirm they were registered voters and were within YOUR voting district).

Let me tell you how much fun getting the 5 registered voters was, as 2 of the first 5 I got filled out, were NOT registered voters, and 1 was registered but NOT from my voting district (I then found out the district "line" ran right thru my development, 2 houses from mine).

I had gotten my first carry permit in PA (1985, when I turned 21), which was as simple as stopping by the Sheriffs office and talking to the Sheriff (a long time family friend) while he had his secretary make my carry permit.

Let's just say that some states are much easier then others, and understand that DE (at that time anyway) made the process so difficult, as to discourage most from going thru the process.

Different problem

In the unlikely event that I would live to see my CC permit expire in 2019, I will face an unusual obstacle, to have it renewed. When It was renewed the last time, the Sheriff's Department that did the finger printing necessary for renewal, found that I no longer have finger prints, but let it go through without them. So, that sort of leaves me "slick out of luck". Oh, Well, the way things are going, with any kind of luck I won't live until 2019 to see what they would dream up to renew the permit, anyway, but I'm sure it would somehow involve lots of time, and money.

Missouri became a constitutional carry state in January of this year I really didn't have to renew but I did anyway. Walked into the Sheriffs office told them I wanted to renew, they took my old card reprinted a new one 50 bucks and they handed me a coffee mug with the state logo and thanked me. I walked out thinking that was really nice.

I just sent mine in this morning, and the fee was $43.00 and it had to be mailed in with a money order or certified check. Where did you do it online for $30.00??

I am sorry, my message was not clear. I no longer have finger, or hand prints. They have just literally gone away. It was my local Sheriff, that discovered it, in trying to take my finger prints, for my last CC license renewal.
