CCI Blazer Ammo

I regularly shoot Blazer Brass and Aluminum. All entirely satisfactory, goes bang, cycles the weapon, hits the target.

Who still has some CCI Aluminum, 200 gr Hollow Point .45 ACP "Flying Ashtray" rounds from the ancient days of pin shooting.

I miss the aluminum case Blazer. Used to be all over the place. My go to for walk around shooting when policing brass is just about impossible.

It's acceptable ammunition and I'll buy it when I can't locate 9mm Fiocchi.

My agency used it for years as training ammo. Never had any problems. I bought 1000 rounds last month.

Good for plinking or casual range use. It seemed loaded a little lighter than other brands, and velocity spread shot to shot was pretty large compared to others, but it always functioned.

I've got a 19-4 6" that likes the .357 158s better than anything. The 9mm goes bang.

It's not the fastest nor the cleanest but it gets the job done and I'd hate to stop one.

YMMV

Blazer Brass and Remington Umc have been my go-to 9mm range ammo, having ran thru thousands (near all 115fmj) of trouble free rounds with both. Was consistent and pre-covid could be had at nice prices. And they will be what I look for when I need ammo again.

Have used the brass and aluminum cased stuff in 9mm and 45ACP with no problems in anything they have been run through. Only thing is they seem a little underpowered to me, but that could just be me being used to what I reload, and they work fine for bulk practice ammo.
Blazer (both aluminum and brass) is definitely on the low end of the spectrum, as far as hot or soft. It's also very consistent.

These two factors make it nice range and practice ammo; you don't beat up your gun, and (normally) don't beat your wallet up either.

I wouldn't put it in the same class as S&B or Fiocchi, or other European brands. They're a good deal hotter, and I suspect is identical to the stuff they issue to their military. If I were completely out of defensive JHP and had to load my P226 for carry, I'd go with one of those first.

For shooting paper, and especially for older guns, Blazer is fine. And honestly I don't want to get shot with it either.

I just picked up a case for under $300 to the door. Yeah, it was aluminum, but final price was $290. All things considered, that's one of the better deals out there.

Works fine for me. One person above that reloads said he doesn't like the brass. I do not reload so if you do you should ask about the reloading quality of the brass from that member.

Not that I'm complaining, but Blazer Brass has been around awhile and is established. Most of the forum pretty much knows what it is, and where to rate it.

There's been a good bit of new/unknown brands that are on the market now, that I'd like to get a review on:
Belom
Mesko
Igman
Heck, throw Norma 9mm in there; I know Norma by name, don't think I ever saw it in 9mm before this.

Once upon a time, we could sit on a single brand, and buy just that. Nowadays, unless your brand is Tula, the pickings are slim and you take what you can find. And I assume Tula is going to fade away...

Don't worry Tula is still fullfilling contracts from before the restrictions.

Who doesn't shoot steel, but who should try some.

I have a couple hundred Blazer range brass...they look fine to me, and I plan to reload them. Based on the comment, i will check inside diameters before loading....
