CCI Blazer

I noticed both online and at my LGS a hate for CCI Blazer as well as other aluminum cased ammo. Other than it sometimes sticking to the chambers in my revolver up extraction I find it a good practice ammo. I was even told to avoid firing it in my Glock. I know Blazer has made good practice ammo for years so I am confused at all the hate for it lately. Any thoughts?

I have shot several hundred of the CCI Blazer aluminum cased 9mm without any problems at all in my 9 Shield and 9c. In fact I find them to be very accurate and fairly clean.

I don't like it because it's not reloadable and we have to manually separate it from brass cases when I work at our club range.

I have shot a fair amount of it and never had any problems with function or reliability, but I've never used it in a Glock. I imagine the concern is the unsupported portion of the chamber. I have no idea if it's a valid concern or just internet folklore.

Ive used it for years in different calibers and never had an issue with it. I do however prefer shooting it in revolvers instead of auto loaders (unless its the Blazer brass)

I have found CCI Blazer brass cased 22 LR the most accurate ammo for several of my rifles and handguns. When it was readily available, it was also the cheapest.

The CCI Blazer aluminum cased center-fire ammo has been good in all the calibers that I've tried. Never had a single issue with one of my handguns. At one time I bought it because the aluminum cased Blazer was cheaper than other factory ammunition. Those days are gone. As well since I reload, brass cased ammunition is more attractive to me as the cost difference between the aluminum cased Blazer and other domestic brass cased ammunition seldom outweighs the price of actually buying brass for loading. I have not ever used any aluminum cased Blazer .22 LR ammunition. In fact I don't know that I've ever seen any of that particular load. I have shot a pile of Blazer brass cased .22 LR ammo in a variety of rifles and handguns. Results have always been extremely good, fully the equal of any other quality .22 LR ammunition produced by either domestic or foreign manufacturers. I first started shooting the Blazer .22 LR ammo back when the first ammo shortage occurred as a LGS would commonly have it in stock at a reasonable price. I had up to that time shot other brands of .22 LR ammo, mostly various HP loads w/ copper washed bullets. Now in this period of a renewed shortage of .22 LR ammo, I have been able to find some .22 LR Blazer ammo available for sale at less than nose bleed prices. I have been buying it every time I see it out for sale. It is very excellent ammo.

I don't mind the blazer aluminum ammo. It's shot just fine whenever I've used it. The problem at our outdoor range is that no one seems to pick up the spent shells. Cleaning up after others gets old quick!

I have fired in excess of 15k rounds of Blazer 9mm with no problems at all. In fact, last year I traded a guy a case of WW for a case of Blazer.

It's caused some ejection problems in my Springfield P9C. (a CZ 75 clone) Haven't tried it in my Shield, in part because of the trouble in my other 9mm, and in part because one indoor range won't allow it. I think the only reason is that they like to sell the brass. They can magnetically separate the steel casings, but they have to hand pick the aluminum.

CCI is the only manufacturer making aluminum cased ammo and I've been using it for decades now. The only problems I've had with it was many moons ago in my friend's .380 Grendel P-10 Piece Of You-Know-What. Presently I'm sitting on 4K of Blazer 9mm.

CCI's Blazer .22LR functions in my GSG-5 and Ruger MKII without a hitch and would use it over Win, Fed or Rem bulk any day of the week.

BTW, it's mainly the reloaders and ranges that "hate" Blazer alum cases for obvious reasons.

I've found some loads to be fine, others not. Absolutely love Blazer .357 158gr JHP. Also .38+P 158gr jacketed. But their 158gr .38 lead round nose service load jammed some of my guns, while others fired it OK. Their .45LC load works well in revolvers, but the rim is too small to extract in my '94 carbine in that caliber. In short, you'll discover what works or doesn't for you.

No hate here! I love the Blazer Alum case and brass case both. Everything from a .380 to 44mag eats it up and crys for more. Super accurate too. since I dont reload, it's usually my go to range ammo.

Thanks. I will get some for more Glock 20 10mm. I do not reload yet and I always police my area after shooting so I shouldn't tee anyone off. I noticed my new Glock 20 came with two test shells from the factory test fire, both CCI Blazer. If the Glock test range uses them they must be good to go for range ammo.

I've used one box of .44 Special 200gr GDHP - no problems. One box of .357 158gr - no problem in revolvers, consistent head separations in my Rossi Puma carbine. A dozen or more boxes of 9mm Largo for my Astra 400 and Star Modelo Super - excellent performance and accuracy. Only reasons I don't buy more are it's no longer cheap and not reloadable.

I just ran 200 rounds of it through my brand new Sig 380 the other day and had it was flawless.

Use it all the time for my semi-autos. Never one problem. No FTF, no FTE. Like said above, I did have a spent cartridge occasionally stick inside of my long gone .44 special.
