CCW Gear for a 627 Pro Series?

I've just picked up a new-to-me 4-inch 627 Pro Series and have started a quest for CCW gear for this revolver, specifically:

* A strongside paddle (corrected: PANCAKE) holster
* 8-shot speedloaders and pouch and/or a pouch for more 8-shot moon clips and/or 8-shot speed strips

I'd prefer leather for the above holster and pouches, but would definitely consider kydex gear.

Any recommendations or links are appreciated. One of my concerns is that I'm not finding many rigs listed as being made for a 4-inch Pro Series 627; what I may be missing is that many or most rigs for a 4-inch 27, 28, or other N-frame might work and I just don't know it.

Thanks in advance!

A standard N frame 4" holster for a 29,629,657 will work quite well.

Look at Lobo Gunleather or Simply Rugged or Mernickle. As heavy as that 627 is you might want to go with a snap on holster rather than a paddle.

Thanks, bronco45. I have an email inbound to Lobo and will check those others. That is a huge help to know that a rig for a more "standard" N-frame will work!

And for whatever reason I tend to say "paddle" when I mean "pancake" with regard to holsters... I've done that for years LOL :).

Thank you for your help!

We're in the same boat! I just bought a 627 Pro also, with the intention of using it for CCW.

So far I've got two holsters that are working very well for me -- a Galco IWB and a DeSantis pancake (though I'm considering a Triple K pancake also - the cut of the DeSantis just bugs me). I am waiting on some DeSantis speedloader pouches for my 5-Star speedloaders -- I went with these because they're the kind that has the loader straddling the belt in order to limit the profile or printing.

Here are some pics...

WOW, nebmike, great pics and a great rig you have there! I will investigate the OWB holsters you've mentioned...also, where did you find those 8-shot speed-strips?

I bought them at my local dealer when I got the gun. But, here is a link to some that are in stock right now...

Tuff Products Quickstrip 38 Special, 357 Magnum, 40 S&W 8 Round Polymer Package of 2 Black - MidwayUSA

Also, regarding 627 Pro specific holsters -- I've never seen one. I know S&W has one on their site for the PC 5" model that is sculpted for the tapered slab-side barrel. The pancake holster that I have is actually marketed for the 629 4" with full lug barrel (which you can see in the contouring of the leather).

Here is another one you might look at -- I like the "look" of this one more than the DeSantis that I have (I ordered the DeSantis sight-unseen, because the picture on their website is of a semi-auto holster rather than the actual revolver version).

Gun Holsters and Gun Magazines by Triple K :: #570 Woodsman

The Galco IWB is actually quite comfortable because its designed so that the bulk of the fat cylinder actually sits above your belt line. I think it'd be a bit much of the cylinder plus two thick layers of holster sat between your hip and your belt.

Also, here is a link to the speedloader pouches that I ordered (but dont have yet)...

Second Six? Speedloader Holder — Desantis Gunhide

Those are the ones that straddle the belt -- half the cartridges on one side and half on the other in order to reduce the profile.

Good luck!

Excellent links, thank you much!

On the Second Six speedloader pouch, did you pick the "HKS Model 29M" size for your loaders?

I was going to ask you about that device in one of your pics...I had found the 5-Star loaders but not that moonclip tool...I have some shopping to do...thanks again for the assistance here, this has been a huge help!

If you end up getting something different holster-wise, I'd love to see it. The problem with a lot of holster makers is they use "representative" photos which may not be the same gun/holster combo you actually want to order (which is usually the case with revolvers, and was the case with my DeSantis).
