I bought a Remington 700 ADL Varmint rifle last week and I picked it up this morning. In California you now have to demonstrate to a person certified by the state that you can safely load and unload the rifle. He demonstrates the proper procedure using a dummy cartridge and then you have to show that you can do the same. I noticed he was having trouble figuring out how to remove the bolt from the 700 so I showed him how you have to press the bolt release lever under the trigger. Even though I have a hunting license I still had to be instructed by a "certified expert" before they would release the rifle to me. It is a strange world we live in.

Better you than me. I like California, at least parts of it, but hate it's stance towards guns, and traffic in southern CA sucks almost as bad as their gun laws do. :(

You have to wait a week to pick up a rifle you purchased?? And you still live there?? And you have to show the expert how to do his job?? Oy

And you still live there??

And the rest of us think we are safe from the politicians. Not sure who is foolish here. Join the NRA and fight back now!
