CFE Pistol - Stumbled into a nice 38sp load

CFE on the burn rate chart.....

Just from looking at CFE on the Hodgdon burn rate chart it appears to be slower than Unique which leads me to think that it would be useful for higher end loads, too.

I've been playing with this product. If you load target ammo in magnum cases like I do, I would go to faster powders. It meters like water but doesn't seem to enjoy barely filling large case volumes. If you go for 44spl in 44rm brass, stay to warmer side of 44 spl or light side of 44 mag.

I guess what Im saying here is that this powder needs a bit of pressure to burn well.

CFE pistol in the 9mm with Hodgdons data at the maximum loads.......fall short on the fps
compared to Unique powder.

It come close but I could not get a +P load in my 3.5" pistol with 115 or 124gr plated bullets at 1.12" OAL.
A 115gr at minimum 1.10 OAL for the Xtreme shaped bullet reached 1172 fps but was lacking in accuracy.

A long OAL at 1040 fps was my top accuracy load with the plated RN bullet with the CFE pistol powder
and std. cci primer.
