CFE Pistol

I found out in my steel 38 J frame that CFE and Unique are pretty close in what they put out.
With the same charge with a Rem. 125gr SJHP ;
CFE did 861 fps
Unique did 881 fps

However when you add 4" of barrel things start to go South.
In my 686 6" with 38 brass, with the same charge and 110gr XTP;
CFE did 999 fps
Unique did 1132 fps

It is better than Unique in metering and does clean up easier, it has its place but needs to be replaced for the larger bullets and higher speeds if needed, per my testing.

I find it acts like w231 and Unique. Just depends on the loads.

so far Ive used it in 45 ACP and 44 Magnum.
yeah ... it does seem to be kinda bipolar between 231 and Unique.
Seems like it has more yield potential than unique, but with a lighter charge.
I like what Ive seen from it so far, though Im holding out my recommendations for it till I have lived with it for a while ...( and built up a stash while I have the chance )

I've used CFE Pistol in the 7.65 Par and 7.63 Mauser. Powder residue in the barrel seems harder to remove than that produced by flake powders.

I also found this powder appears to be faster burning in these applications than the Hodgdon burning rate chart indicates.
