Chamber reamer rent, solid or floating pilot?

Plan on renting a reamer to use to cut the chambers on a 31-1 to 32h&r mag. Any insight on the difference between pilots and which to choose?

If it were me I'd call Manson and / or Clymer Reamer Company's and pick their brain.

The solid pilots come in one size, usually a bit small to fit all barrels. The depth of rifling varies a little bit. They turn with the reamer, as it is all one solid piece.

The floating pilots come in .001 increments and are changeable tubes, held on with a circlip. The tube pilots will allow the reamer to turn while they are stationary.

With a properly made reamer, both kinds work well. The solid pilot reamer is less expensive, but might not be much difference in cost if renting.

OK, you're reaming a cylinder, not a barrel, so you want a reamer that fits a revolver cylinder NOT A BARREL REAMER. The pilot on the cylinder reamer will be larger.

Dunno if they make floating pilot reamers for cylinders. Since there's no rifling involved, there's no chance of scoring the rifling, so the floating pilot is less of an advantage.
