I got a kit for rebound springs, and I would like to know why the 12# spring is about 1/4" longer than the 13,14,15, 16. It is longer than the original.
Can anyone tell me why?
I bought a wolff kit with 13,14,& 15# springs and they were all the same length. Does the long spring feel lighter than the others when you install it? I can sure feel the difference between the light springs & the stocker when installing.
It's all about getting 12lbs or whatever the weight(13, 14, etc) is at the springs designed compressed length. Different wire diameters and materials will change spring rates, and spring rates are force/displacement. So that 12lb spring just has a spring rate that requires an extra 1/4" to get the final 12lb. As long as it isn't going into coil bind at the final compression length, its a non issue.
