Re-Pete - Just after Skeeter Passed, was down at my Buddy's Gun Store.
A State Trooper came in and asked him if he wanted to buy some of Skeeter's ammo.
We go outside look in the trunk of his car and see busted cases of name brand handgun ammo.
Steve bought some and I help him carry it into the store.
Later I found our that Skeeter's Son was a State Trooper.
I don't think this was Bart, he said things like, we're trying to help Mrs. Skelton raise some money.
Much later a friend of mine was waiting to board an airplane.
The speaker said - Bart Skelton you can board.
I think by this time Bart was Border Patrol.
She asked me if I knew who he was.
Yes, I do. That's Skeeter's Son.
Got that you are so weird look!
Later -Look - Look - there's Buck Taylor! SASS event.
Who's Buck Taylor?
His Dad is Dub Taylor.

I too was a big fan. Since I was only a teenager when I discovered him, he was a big inspiration.

Geez he was only 60??? I'm 58, some days I think I'll NEVER grow up!

I loved Skeeter's stories.............Sadly Henry Mckeena took him away too soon.

The cancer didn't help any

Skeeter Skelton was my favorite writer; he seemed to relate to everyman. Elmer Keith was OK but very opinionated and his writing was on the crude side. Never cared a lot for Charles Askins; It always seemed to me that he liked killing.

I grew up reading Skeeter's writings and enjoyed them immensely. Perhaps my love of the .44 Special is due to him, but Elmer also as he carried one for many years before the .44 Mag came along.

I've now carried my 4" 624 exclusively for months since i got it. Everything else sits in the safe. From the time i wake up til i go to bed and everywhere I go. IWB in a simply rugged pancake holster.

I miss Skeeter and enjoy his writings no matter how many times i've read them.

I read Skeeter many years ago in Shooting Times magazine. Always liked his writing. More homespun than high tech. I bought a 4" model 624 stainless .44 SPL shortly after they first came out but never learned to love the ctg and traded it off after a while.

I met Sally, Skeeter's wife and Bart, his son at the big Las Vegas show soon after the big auction of Skeeter's stuff.
They were selling off the left overs and I bought a Colt SAA .45 with a bulged barrel and a Colt Pocket Auto .25 acp. Both came with letters from the family.
Also met Mike Laney, Bart's "Brushpoppin" Buddy" who was there helping them out. Resold both items long ago sad to say.
