Charlie Kirk Shot

This one has the earmarks of a professional assassination IMO. The longer the shooter is at large, the harder it will be to catch him. I am sick over this! He was a very descent young man just trying to educate college kids and did not deserve this. If they do catch the assassin I hope he gets the death penalty for his crime. I am sick to my stomach for his wife and kids!
Maybe not a paid pro but well prepared and likely had accomplices.

Charlie was a decent guy with a sharp mind. He never seemed to get angry by what people called him, that drove his opponents crazy.

I don't think references to "the other side" help.

I don't think one side or the other, left or right, has a monopoly on crazies willing to commit violence against those with whom they disagree politically. I think such comments simply encourage the continuation of the violence.

(And I think a list of political murders — this shooter was a leftie, that shooter was a righty — is a fool's errand. They are all, uniformly, homicidal nutballs.)

As for Charlie Kirk, while I had not heard of him before his murder, no one deserves to be murdered for his or her political beliefs. I hope the killer is caught swiftly, and that, found guilty, he is executed.

Prayers sent for Charlie's family and loved ones.
Oh, but one side has a culture of political violence.

It's the same side that targeted Pres. Trump, Elon Musk, vandalized Teslas, rioted, vandalized, burned cities and justified political violence/murder, like the health care CEO, is the same side that whacked Charlie Kirk because they couldn't tolerate the fact they couldn't beat him in the arena of ideas. Charlie was huge influence among young folks.

I'm not making a political statement, I'm simply stating facts.

If you (the general "you") can look, at the facts, objectively, choose your side.

I'm generally not one to engage in conspiracy theories, but I'll admit this is messing with me. How does someone get on the roof of a building of a college campus, take that shot and somehow manage to escape? I would think you would be a trapped rat up there. Whoever did this must have had knowledge of the campus, the building, and also proficient with a rifle.
Kirk was a podcaster, not a public official of any kind, so any security would be his private staff and whomever the university and local PD could spare for such an event.

With talk of the "other side" just remember many other sides can exist including foreign
other sides. And those foreign other sides may have motives not readily apparent. The
goal may easily be just to create more turmoil within the U.S.
Absolutely right. U.S. civil war is a wet dream for Russia, China, Iran and NK.

Tragic... My prayers go out to the Kirk family.
How have we come to a point where people feel they can kill someone over their opinions?
Sadly, it's not a recent phenomenon.
Julius Caesar
Lincoln
Garfield
McKinley
JFK
Bobby Kennedy
MLK
Anwar Sadat
... and hundreds more.

I will post the quote Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (designer of the sneak attack) said after the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7th 1941. He simply stated, "I Fear All We Have Done is to Awaken a Sleeping Giant and Fill Him With a Terrible Resolve". In the case of Charlie Kirk, I hope that statement rings true!

What shakes me is that Charlie wasn't a head of state or an elected official. He was a voice with influence, yes, but not someone holding political power. The fact that even that can cost a life today is heartbreaking – and it says a lot about our times.

He wasn't killed for what he was; he was killed for what he had the potential of becoming. Someone on the other side realized he would become a major political player working against their agenda and took preemptive action.

As s&wchad pointed out, this is nothing new and has been happening since the beginning of mankind. What is sad is the human race hasn't reached the point where this kind of behavior has been eradicated from our thought process. Nor, do I believe, that it ever will be. As long as we exist, there will be people who are willing to kill those they do not like or those with opinions different from their own.

I agree with those that say this was a professional hit.

FBI will find him. Not too many radicalized lefties proficient to make a hit on such a small & vital target, it was no head shot gone low at 375' with a rifle. Then escape from a building on a University Campus without a trace. While some blue bag posts something big gonna happen tomorrow on campus. People know, they'll find him.

crazies on both sides which side stormed on jan 6th, took a hammer to pelosi husband, and shot 2 Minnesota reps i don't think its one side or the other just loons on both sides. Once upon a time both parties had two groups within themselves. you had republican moderates and conservatives same on the other side but now seems you either have to be crazy left or crazy right . Whatever happened to the middle

Just heard a great description of Charlie Kirk. A combination of Billy Graham and Rush Limbaugh. He will be missed.
LE speaking now…"we have good footage of the shooter"…..a weapon found"
News- FBI reported that the weapon recovered was a "bolt action rifle." No further rifle details provided. At least it was not one of those evil assault rifles. Also was stated that the FBI had the shooter's palm print. Unstated, but probably obtained from the recovered rifle. Evidently the shooter knew something about shooting. While making a hit on a human body from 200 yards is not difficult, it is unlikely that someone unfamiliar with rifle shooting could do it.

Great work by LE, on THEIR schedule.

They have plenty of video footage of the shooters movements. The shooter is sweating.

One has to acknowledge the symbolism of his final moments...

Blood pouring out over his white shirt printed with just one word "Freedom"
His microphone then slowly lifted before it falls from his hand to the ground

I am not at all being flippant when I say it reminds me of William Wallace's final moments in Braveheart

Couple of things, There have been people in the media saying this was a professional hit. I seriously doubt it. I have a feeling that the shooter was trying for a head shot to make a bigger "impact." Someone wanted to do to Charlie what they tried to do with Pres. Trump in PA. I have a feeling that the person didn't count for bullet drop and therefore he was hit in the neck. Someone with real knowledge of shooting would have gone for the safe chest shot.

2nd thing is that this was most likely done by someone that had knowledge of shooting but not a big hunter or gun person. Probably someone that has been dabbling for the last year or 2. 200 yards is not a big deal for the average hunter. I have my rifles under an inch at 100 yards. I have taken a Pronghorn at 460 yards and that is not a big deal. Some of the rifle and scope systems could probably hit a fly at 100 yards. So considering that Charlie was hit in the neck confirms that it was someone without much experience.

3rd, the security around Charlie needs to be held accountable. There is 1 thing that could have saved Charlie Kirk that, from what it appears, was not used. If they had a drone there, that would have saved his life. I know, Monday morning QB. If they had a drone, it would have definitely have caught the shooter on the roof. If they did have a drone then it was only used for the crowd closest to him and not looking for threats farther out.

Lastly, we, certain people in the United States, have normalized poor mental health. The ACLU did no favors to the country when it sued to let people with mental health issues out if they are not considered a danger to themselves or someone else. I think I could make a case that homeless people and people with addiction issues ARE a danger to themselves at the very least. We have made it normal to dress as a cat or a dog or whatever animal and people around them have to treat them as such. We have made it normal to let children go to strip shows and even encouraged it. We have made it normal for our politicians to call for violence against their opponents or any one they disagree with. I say we because if we aren't opposing it at every turn we are giving acceptance by silence.

Something has to change with mental health. We may have to go back to some kind of involuntary mental health hold to help these people.
