Charter Arms .44 Bulldog

I like the looks of the Bulldog and I like the big bore concept. Also, lately I'm getting into revolvers.

But, the big question for me is the recoil. I don't think I am particularly recoil sensitive but I am getting older. For example, I have an S&W model 640 and I cannot tolerate shooting 357 magnums in it. I can handle 38 +P. There are a lot of people that feel the same way.

Those of you that have a Bulldog, can you give me some feedback here?

I've always enjoyed my Bulldogs. Sadly, I keep selling them but later buy another!!!! Just a few days ago I walked into a LGS and found a lonely, blued Bridgeport with the 3" tapered barrel. He wanted $350 but when I picked it up the action was frozen. He looked at it, grumbled at people who know nothing about guns but pick them up and play with them. True! Fortunately for me, another customer came in and he and the owner went to ordering a rifle. At the counter I looked closely at the gun. It was in beautiful shape, so I was surprised something was wrong. The cylinder release moved forward but did not release the cylinder. The action was caught as well. I pulled forward forcefully on the front of the exposed extractor rod (Thank goodness this model had the exposed rod), and the cylinder released! So did the action. It appeared the tiny screw that the cylinder release pushes forward to engage the rear of the extractor rod was screwed-in too far. When the other customer left, I told the owner I'd have to work on it but was still very interested. He dropped the price A LOT and I purchased it. Once home, I backed-out the screw and everything worked! Later I will degrease the screw and then Loctite it in place as it should be anyway. Everything else cleaned up and seems to be just fine. I'm happy!!! A Bridgeport? I'm happy!!! A keeper!!! I did add the age-appropriate grips I had in my parts box at home.
