I always liked the .40 S&W and have been looking at the inexpensive cop trade ins and saw new FN FNX .40s online for $269 shipped. I've heard good things about FN Guns and I like traditional DA/SA design with a hammer and was wondering if anyone has any experience with one?

I've had mine for over 2 years. I'm a lefty, so I really liked that all the controls were ambi. The grip is pretty thick for my hands, but the gun shoots and feels good. It was my EDC until I picked up a HK P30S. Typing this makes me realize I need to take it to the range soon!
14 plus 1 capacity makes it a great carry.
Willy.

I have an FNX 45 Tactical with 7,500 rounds through it, and it's a great gun. It's totally reliable and very accurate, with a excellent single action trigger pull. I could buy four FNX 40s for what I paid for my 45T. So to me, you've found the deal of the century so far. If I were you, I'd jump on it asap!

Keep an eye on AIM. They've had some smokin' deals on .40 Glocks, gen 2, 3 and 4 if you can deal with Glocks. Otherwise they've had some S&Ws, H&Ks and Sigs in the last few weeks. You have to keep checking and be ready to act fast cause the inventory turns quickly.

Very few duty holsters are available for them. Safariland makes no holsters for the full size FNX pistols.

If you like DA/SA guns....and you like Smith and Wesson (assuming since you are here lol)......Why not check out the CHP 4006 TSW.

Granted it is more than $269....Usually they are $350-$399 but its a decent gun, heavy to handle the 40 and its unique with the CHP serial number.

There are many opportunities on the market for used .40S&W pistols. One of the best is the Sig-Sauer "Red Box" pre-owned program, law enforcement trade-ins that have been run through the factory, all significantly worn parts replaced, refinished to new standards, shipped with manual and one-year factory warranty, usually for about 40% of MSRP for a new Sig.

About a year ago I acquired a Sig P229 "Red Box" pre-owned pistol in .40S&W, delivered for $390. MSRP at the time for a new one was $1087. Great pistol! DA-SA with decocker, known in the US military jargon as the M11, issued by several federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, compact version of the excellent P226.

Other sources offer LE trade-ins by S&W, Sig, Glock, and others at very realistic prices. I like the Sig "Red Box" program because of the factory servicing and manufacturer's warranty included. Another plus with the Sig is easy conversion to .357 Sig if desired (requiring only a replacement barrel, same magazines and other parts work properly with either caliber), so for ~$150 or so you can have both calibers in one pistol that requires only field stripping to convert.

Keep an eye on /r/gundeals (Reddit Gundeals). Quite a few decent .40 options have cropped up on there.
