Ok, guys and gals, question here for everyone about cleaning. I have a new M&P 15 and will be shooting Tula and Wolf steel cased ammo from it (hey, it's the only thing I could find within my price range).

Anyway, I hear this ammo is very dirty. What would the best overall solvent be for cleaning the m&P 15 after shooting this stuff? I guess there will be a lot of carbon fouling in the breach area so i'd like to find something that is powerful and will break that up easily.

Just would like to hear what kinds of things you guys use to keep your "lady" clean and functioning 100%.

Thank you!

I use frog lube mainly now but used to use clp. They both work pretty good for tulammo

My SPort has over 11,000 rounds thru it now, and 95% has been Wolf/WPA. It is not as dirty as you have been led to believe. Run ANY ammo thru the rifle, say 600 rounds in a day for a training session, and the rifle will be dirty.
Froglube is good, but I feel it gunks up the rifle too much. I really love the stuff on my pistols though; my 9504 is incredibly smooth with the green goo in it.
I prefer the light oils in the AR's. Gunslinger nailed it. I run CLP or Slip. If I am shooting a ton, I will add some Hoppes into the oil, and use it to just quick spritz flush my chamber when it looks too filthy to go on. (Shoot in the dust of the AZ desert and with wind and what not, the rifle gets really dirty. )

Boy, isn't that the truth. I run Hornady ammo through my M&P15 when training and by the time I get to lunch on day #3, I'll pull the BCG and give it a quick cleaning and lube, which will carry it through the end of the course (day #4).

I use CLP. There is no magic cleaning aid that cuts the time in 1/2. Otherwise everyone would just use that.

It's the beauty of the rifle design, and the wonders of modern lubes. I can not imagine what the tolerances must have been like on the big MG's in WWII. Think how many rounds a bomber crew went thru in a run on a town in Germany, trying to fend off Messerschmitz after Messerschmitz. My grandfather was a navigator there, the memories he carried with him.
Keep the AR wet, and it will run until you really screw something up badly. Not quite an AK, but very reliable when set up and lubed.

Slip ewl and 725, CLP and Hoppe's works for me. I don't think Tula is bad. I use a CMMG 22 conversion, now that is dirty. It just forces you to clean the rifle? I wish to use the conversion mostly with my MP Sport and not my BCM, but sometimes it is just nice to simply switch when out and about. No problem, just clean.
