Cheap Scotch

Thank you, I very much enjoyed listening to that presentation. Having just finished a nice steak, I'm now sitting down to watch The Big Sleep with a dram of Talisker in my hand. It's a windy, damp, cold night outside. Perfect for Talisker, Bogie and Bacall.

My friend, you know how to live! However, I would be watching Clint in G,B,U. Bottoms up!

I'll consider "cheap" as being inexpensive.

How about McClellans. Single Malts. I prefer the Lowland, not peaty at all, but their Highland label isn't too bad. Their Islay is the peatiest of the three. Not bad for about $25 a bottle here in Pa, the land of the "State Liquor Store".

Not that it matters much, but all three come in corked fifths, verses a screw cap. I just like the sound and feel of opening a corked bottle when I pour a "wee dram" of scotch. :)

Now... if I really want to splurge I'll buy something in the $50 range. That's my limit, unless someone wants to buy me some as a X-mas or birthday present. Then I'll set no limits. But a cork is still preferred.:D

I will never understand why anyone would want to acquire a taste for something that didn't taste good.

It’s just like shooting magnums. Muzzle blast, recoil, overall unpleasant. But some people actually claim to enjoy that. :D

Mix 'em

To me scotch always had a medicine type of taste for me to really acquire the taste. Not scotch but made with it Drambuie is pretty good to sip at times. Way too sweet with the honey in it to drink a lot of it.

Experiment with a mix of the two... it's called a "Rusty Nail"

3/4 Scotch to 1/4 Drambuie is my favorite. One is usually the limit.
