Check Out My $100 S&W

Great deal absolutely. Only speculating, but why when a dealer offers $100, seller refuses it would a person then sell for $100. You gotta at least double that as an ask price privately. Dealers, after all are in business to make some profit.

Tom

Undoubtedly a good deal, but I have a bit of a problem with it.

If a dealer misidentifies or misprices a gun, I am willing to take it at his mistakenly determined price because he presumably has the resources and experience to price it appropriately. If a private party offers me a gun at way less than it is worth, I will correct his misunderstanding if I don't want it, and pay him something closer to what the gun is really worth if I do.

If I wanted that gun and got that offer, I think I would have given him $200-250 for it. I'd still be making a decent deal, and he wouldn't be getting hosed.

In short, I don't feel the need to protect someone from his own carelessness, but I really don't want to exploit another's inexperience or ignorance.

You guys are getting paranoid

If something is too good to be true, it probably is.

There are morons out there....but did the guy SAY he was only offered $100 by a dealer on trade or did the OP actually witness this? If he was offered that, why would he let it go for that and nothing more in private sale? Idiots are out there but this would raise red flags with me....if I were the buyer I'd be wanting to see ID, and have a signed receipt, when I purchased so I knew where it came from if SHTF over the firearm.

Way to go jimmyjoe!
My 'Buds' model 10 cost nearly three times that and yours appears to be in much better cosmetic shape. Plus, yours has the grips I wish mine had.
Wow, just wow!

It wasn't that long ago that police revolver trade-ins were everywhere, and most dealers were selling them for $150-$200. (Well, it wasawhile ago, but it doesn't seem like it.) He may have priced guns back then, figured it was "only" an old revolver, not all sexy and cool like a crunchenticker, so how could it be worth much more than $100?

I have a Rossi 44 Special I bought from a co-worker, he said the (Cowboy) ammo was costing him a fortune and he wanted to unload it. I offered him $375, sight unseen, but he said no. He finally agreed to take $225 for it, so he made a couple bucks on it. We both walked away happy. ;)

Almost too good to be true. If it was me i'd call in the serial # to local
P.D. to make sure it's not hot. I traded an AR-15 for a Python back in around 1979. After i got tired of the Python i sold it to a LGS to raise some money for something else i was wanting. Yep, got a phone call from LGS a week later saying it was hot. Had to pay back the money
and lost an AR-15 in the process. Lesson learned long ago by a dumb teenager.

SOME PROFIT?!?!?!?!?

That's just ridiculous. Either you were dealing with a complete and utter fool, or I have so side with the growing crowd that is worried that gun may be stolen. I hate saying that but something about that deal just smells funny. A guy at a gun show has got to be looking at some price tags and be thinking, "Hey, I think that dealer just tired to low ball me..." What he shouldn't be thinking is, "Hey that dealer just told me all this gun is worth so this is all I'm going to ask for it..." There is just something about this one... :(

I like to think you were in the right place at the right time - at $100 what is the risk? I wouldn't have hesitated. Well done!

JJ, like I mentioned in another post, it is all about being in the right place at the right time! ....And you were! Bob
Sorry, I repeated you Sealevel, but I did not read your post! I was happy getting my 10-8 from Bud's at $269! Your's was a steal! Bob
