Many years ago we lived out in the country. We had a Collie Dog.
One day the neighbor, a farmer, came to visit. He said that dog
of yours will come over and round up all of my sheep, herd them into
a corner up by the house and then lay down and watch them.
I was so proud.
Then he said, there is just one problem. I don't want my sheep rounded
up and cornered.
He wasn't trained at all. It was instinct.
The chewing you are concerned about usually results from boredom.
Keep him busy and he probably won't chew things up.
Maybe you could get him a little herd of sheep?
Beautiful dog. And great owners.
