Check Out This Hippocrit

One thing seems certain, they are not making astronauts "...like they used to."

He and his (unfortunately grievously injured) wife are/were government employees. They have owed their livelihood to "the system" and probably hope to continue in that vein in the foreseeable future. Of course they are going to do what they are told. (And hope they don't get caught messing up! Oops. :o)

Don't spend much time checking FOX or any other MSM.

Mark Kelly buys assault rifle | Legislature 2013 - Home

Since when would a politician, or prospective politician, spend his own money on a political prop?

I bet the money came from his newly formed gun-control organization, "Americans for Responsible Solutions".

And why does and anti gun group, or anti gun leader buy a gun? Apparently he thinks there is some point to be made about gun registration? At least that seems to be the story today.

(Maybe he will next go buy some guns at gun shows? Yawn)

Giffords had a Glock in her handbag that day? I never heard that before. If it is true, all I can say is too bad she didn't get a chance to defend herself.

Like the case of James Brady, I find myself having a sort of eternal patience with her. Not her husband though. Nobody survives a near death experience without at least a few profound effects on their core values and beliefs. I don't agree with her or Brady of course, but I can at least respect their opinions, something I can't do with the average grabber out in the world.

We can all bet that a LOT more people who promote bans have also gone out and purchased ARs, AKs, or what ever they could sometime during the past 3 months. Maybe one silver lining is that in the coming year or so, many spouses will discover these purchases and force the guns out. We all might be seeing some great deals on "used" unfired rifles pretty soon.

I want to know if Kelly is planning on keeping the 1911?
Its not an assault weapon. Nor is it high capacity. But it seems to me that once you jump onto the anti bandwagon, that owning any firearm is hipocritical.

Kelly and his wife are the latest "useful idiots" much like the Bradys were for Klinton. They are the life blood, stock in trade of most juntas. Read Lenin's "What is to be Done" (if you can stand his plodding monotonous style) for explanation. Joe

Apparently he went on CNN today and is now spinning this as "he bought it to prove a point." Of course he didn't say that until it came out three or four days later after he was seen buying it on March 5th Like someone said in an article about all of this, the only thing he proved is that an American with no criminal record can pass a background check.

In my opinion. Kelly and his wife Gifford are not anti gun, from what I have read. They are for registration of every gun, and they are for magazine limits - from what I have heard so-far. (Note the so-far).

An old Indian Tracker that was very good at tracking across rocky ground once said - it helps if you know where he will put his foot next, and look there.

I expect a Gun Show is where Kelly will do his next purchase, to give to the police.

I do not expect him to go to the side of any major city where Drug Gangs rule the night - and buy a weapon or magazine he wants outlawed, on any street corner.

When I was in Hong Kong years ago, anything you wanted, and how much money you have left, you tell a shoeshine boy. He would disappear and soon return and take you wherever. In our big cities it is poor district street corners, or housing projects. Almost everyone who is selling drugs or sex knows how to connect a person to someone who can get almost anything small enough to carry.

But I doubt those anti gun people are aggressively anti crime. They will never get involved in showing how easy it is to buy stolen guns in New York or Chicago, or wherever. They think they can dry up the supply.
Our borders are wide open and they want to dry up the supply to honest people thinking it will dry up the supply to criminals and crazies.

I think it is possible that they may believe they are not "anti-gun," and I am sure they would like the "reasonable" ones among us to believe that. If in their hearts they truly are not anti-gun, then at minimum they are horribly misguided.

It is a political stunt designed for the media. It works because the MSM loves this sort of story.
Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords wish to keep the pressure on and solicit donations for their newly founded group.
I feel sympathy for what happened to Gabby Giffords, but really disagree with their lobbying efforts.

Fox News is carrying this story. If he turns it in to police it will be sold to raise money (by law).

Guys, really?!?

Fifty posts, and not one person yet has made a hippopotamus joke on this thread?

I know, I know: here's an OP who has raised a serious subject, and brought forth some thoughtful responses and some venom as well -- but has that ever stood in the way of a little good-natured ribbing, too? Well, if nobody else will.....

"I started looking at this post thinking there'd be 'Wild Kingdom' photos!"

"What a shame that that big lug over in the Large Mammals Exhibit broke his leg, and now he's a hippocrip."

"When I got here, I couldn't even spell hippocrit, and now, by golly I think I are one!":D

Pretty much diffused because the media doesn't want to make the astronut or his ex-congressperson wife look bad.

It's total BS and this case should be front page news, but it isn't. Goes to show how people have become numb with politicians who lie. Nothing new, same stuff, different day.

I would love to talk to him - one on one, retired Naval Officer to pension grabbing astronut. I would ask the hard questions. He would probably storm off and not speak to me.

And friends

"When guns are outlawed, only politicians will have guns."

And their numerous friends. Didn't you see that Kevin Costner Elliot Ness movie where the gangster/hit-man had a concealed weapon permit. One of the few almost honest movies Hollywood ever made.
