There are some random boxes, in lot number 3110983, that have issues. I had one of them. Apparently some of the cases, in this lot only, were not annealed properly.

I bought a box last weekend, to shoot New Years day. I fired a full cylinder, in my Model 27, and could not get them to eject. I had to bang the ejector rod up against the bench. I figured maybe it was just this gun, so I put 7 into a new (never shot) 686 that I just bought and after the 6th round the cylinder locked up. I had no problem opening the cylinder, but when I did the source of the jam fell out. A primer had blown out! Again I had to bang the cylinder rod to pop the cases out. All the cases were bulged enough, in the bottom 1/4", that I could not put them back into the cylinder.

I did a google search and found someone that had the same problem back in JULY, with the same lot number. My first question when I called Hornady Tuesday am was, "if I was in a defensive situation, with 2 attackers, and after firing 1 shot my cylinder locked up what would the outcome be?". I asked why a recall hadn't been done since this is a known problem and he said it was a "random" issue that was in this lot only. I had a UPS driver arrive at my house 24 hours later, with a call tag.

I'll let you know what happens.

Now I remember a reason I haven't much cared for Hornady for the past several decades. Thanks for reminding me. I was actually thinking about trying some of this CD stuff.

So Hornady knew about the problem since last summer and decided to let it slide? Sheese!
