I have always wondered why Clint Walker was never cast as Tarzan in any film. I have always thought he would have been perfect for the role. Deep voice,6'6" 240lbs totally ripped. Just perfect.

While not much of a Clint Walker fan, I watched Cheyenne in the 50's (?) or 60s, when it wasn't reruns. What is "ripped"?

You're kidding, right? Well defined muscles as in how a body builder looks.

No, I'm not kidding. Thanks for the definition but I'm not sure I really needed to know that one.

He dood dat..........aaahhhhhwwwaaaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaa

Jungle gents 1954, wit da bowery boyz,
Da bowery da bowery it all happened on da bowery.

Walker probably had more
knock-around fights with
Leo Gordon than any other
character actor/stuntman.
Gordon wasn't as tall as
Walker but he was built
like a gorilla, that is to
say massive.

Gordon faced off a number
of times with James Arness
and John Wayne.

I dare guess Gordon was one
of the most favorite "heavies"
in TV and movies.

In "Hondo" he disagreed with
Wayne about how a man should
react to being shot. He explained
that he just crumbled from a
single .38 when a cop shot him
during a robbery, which earned
him time in San Quentin.

Leo and the law.......

He had barney fife all afflutter in mayberry one time. He had the demeaner, the body and the voice for playing the heavy.

Although Mr Walker was in a lot of movies and played great parts in a lot
of movies that I enjoyed........

for some odd reason, his style or voice, never got me, to where I thought as him
as a top 10 actor, but as a very good one that I would watch.

I always had a laugh at him, getting into his low custom Jag from England.

His Wiki article says he and a partner stuck up the patrons of an LA bar, and was shot in the stomach by a cop who responded. He spent five years in San Quentin as a result. He was lucky.

he's too big for tarzan. he got type casted because he probably doesn't film well with normal people. everyone would look like frail midgets next to him. can you imagine all the so called leading actors of his time needing to stand on apple boxes to film scenes with him just to avoid being out-sized and out-angled. their egos wouldn't allow it!

I think it was during the filming
of "Fort Dobbs," Virginia Mayo
said Clint Walker spent his time
between takes working out by
lifting logs. Meanwhile co-star
Brian Keith just drank beer.
