Not sure where or if this fits in anywhere. Smith & Wesson chiefs special blank firing gun made by Umarex. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Well that's different... I'm familiar with Umarex as a marketer of air guns, some of which are realistic clones of actual firearms. Had no idea they were selling blank guns as well (though I know such are popular in places where a real gun is often impossible to obtain). A quick check of the Umarex catalog shows they offer look alike, blank firing copies of several S&W handguns, all with visible S&W logos so I guess they have some kind of licensing deal with S&W for these products.

Well there is certainly a use for starter pistols but for demand to be high enough to market as many different lookalikes as they show I would suspect that there are other influences. Just from a little research it appears there is a demand for these blank guns in a number of countries that tightly control access to real firearms but allow easier access to non-firearms (such as de-milled guns, blank pistols, air soft. etc.) and some people actually collect these.
