Choosing between the 625 or 19 for deer

Bullet placement is paramount. As has already been said, either round will work just fine. I would shoot the one you shoot the best, and if that is a toss-up, assuming you can get more than one tag, blood them both!

Now we're talkin! :D

Thanks for all the thoughts, seems like a real toss up but I'm glad to know how others with personal exposure to handgun deer ventilation view these options.

I'm very comfortable with the 45 and always leave the range grinning about its accuracy. The 19 is new to me, remains to be seen. I'm pretty good with all my Smith and Wesson wheel guns though and generally feel quickest on the sights with L frames.

I'll put in some regular practice with both for a while. I feel free to choose either way now, which is great.

Unless I missed something you are asking about loads in both .45 acp AND .45 colt. Do you have a gun with dual cylinders or two seperate model 25`s?
In any case I would favor the .45 over the .357. Edit: Read it again and see what you meant, comparing the .45 acp to .45 colt. Still like the .45s.

Be sure to practice at your anticipated range, a 6" paper plate makes a good target, if you can keep all your shots within the 6" plate at that distance, you are capable of taking the deer.

Having killed deer with a .357 Magnum and a .45 Colt with the same velocity numbers as you are talking about with a .45 ACP, no question, the .45. I found the .357 to be a marginal deer round (although I did kill two deer with it), while the .45 puts them down with authority. Just MHO.
