Hi
Just had my Full size M&P 9mm chopped at the grip to accept the 10 round magazines (Or 12 and 17). This allows me to have the Full length Barrel and sight radius of a full size weapon. BUT the compact concealability of a compact grip. The work was done by MASTER gunsmith (I mean MASTER) Lou Biondo from Business End Customs. He does great work and a great guy to deal with. Pictures to follow by M&P Freak who has actually posted every pic for me.
Thanks Ron

Sounds sweet. I saw guys do that with kahr pistols can't wait to see! If you don't mind me asking what did that cost?

Hi
It was $130.00 for the chop job and worth every dime. I just now put 150 rounds through it with NO malfunctions. The gum runs like a clock, very accurate and very reliable. I do not have before and after pics, But i do have a pic with the 10 round mag (Mass Compliant) and the XGrip which gives the full size look.
Like I said earlier Lou does great work I have had my Shield 9 cerakoted in Tactical Grey and had the slide melt done. Also slide melt and Sniper grey on my 9c. Check out his web site and he also has a few Youtube videos. Hopefully M&P Freak will post those pics soon

Ok I'll bite...? For what earthly reason ? The average gun fight is just a few yards. They make a compact version already. I am legally blind in one eye..I can see the sights on my M&Pc. No problem. Although it is nice to find another aparrently very good fabricator gunsmith. ?

Number1Gun
1) It looks pretty good
2) It shoots nice allows me to have the longer sight radius of a full size. (which adds slightly in bullet velocity and energy)
3) It carries very nice
4) And I can still use the 17 round magazine's
5) Fabricator gunsmith? meaning?

1. Oh huh ..Ok
2. Whatever..another inch, inch and a half. For a Cary gun...ok.
3. Oh huh..Ok
4. So can I. Fits perfect.
5. No meaning. Yes it is good to find people that can create/alter
mechanical things that others want altered and still function.
I just do not see any value whatever. People are different. Looking at the mind set that drives this type of thinking. I am pretty sure there is no right or wrong here. Enjoy.

whatever , I gave you my reasons and you didnt like them and dont agree with them. therefor i am wrong in doing what I did.

I have the 9c (and the 40c and the shield 9 and 40 and a 45acp) this chopped full size is a keeper and a shooter

There's a reason the Colt CCO was created. This forum has traditionally been respectful and matter of fact from the hundreds of posts I've flipped through. Characters welcome but egos get checked at the door. You seem more like a Glocktalk guy. If you don't understand something that's fine but without being able to see body language or voice inflection, words can only be taken at face value.

I can vouch for the quality of work at Business End Customs. I haven't had work done on my Smith there, but they did refinish a Glock 22. Excellent quality of work on the slide melt and refinish. Cleaned up the trigger, smoothed it out - something most Smith triggers can benefit from. As for the chopped grip, looks like a great carry option that you can slap in a full size mag at the range for comfort and lots of rounds in your spare carry mag.

I think it's pretty clear the reason he chopped it. It's a gun he wanted to keep instead of sell. It's a gun he wanted to be 10rd compliant so he could carry it as a compact, as opposed to remanding it to the safe. It's all about user preference anyway. Just because YOU can't see a good reason in your opinion, doesn't negate the fact that the OP has his own good reasons for doing it.

Hey, I'm just stating that I think it was pretty clear in the OP, "what earthly reason" someone would do that. Happy, Happy, Happy.

OP, I wish your guy would get some pics up!

pics will be available soon. M&P Freak posts my pictures for me. So Stand by pics will be available soon

Nice M&P there 1SG! Would it be too much to ask to get pics of your Shield too? I'd like to see the cerakote and slide melt. If it's a hassle, no biggie I completely understand. Have a good day and thanks for sharing!

you can search this M&P forum and find the shield pic, M&P Freak posted those as well.
The take down tool is a compact tool
