How cool is that?! I love it!

Where did you come up with such an idea? How is the fit and finish? Does it look chopped or does it look factory?

You know others will do this now.... That's a great idea for customizing your gun. I think it is so cool to make your guns your own!

For the record, the shorter grip length is much easier to conceal. It tends not to print as easily.

I think it looks great too. A multi function weapon. If I didn't know better by the photo,it looks like a "c" only a bit longer. Nice having a longer sight and less grip to hide along with what ever you want to carry round wise. Good for Sunday go to meeting or playing on the range.

Why ? Same reason we use to beef up our cars,put bigger tires on our Jeeps,chrome the daylights outa our 4X4 trucks and never leave the concrete pavement... Because we are still a free country and as long as we aren't hurting anyone else... It's because we can.

It's easier to hide a stick than a hammer.

I figure I'd chime in.. I do about 2-3 of M&P chops a month.. I think it's because of the appendix carry fad and getting the best of both worlds..Easy to conceal and a full size gun if need.Longer sight radius and better recoil management due to the heavier slide than a compact and you can still change backstaps the way I do it if needed.

Very nice work from both gunsmiths. Wonder if it wouldn't make sense to bob the beavetail some on these chopped guns to be more like the compact profile. I've seen someone swap a full size 45 slide with a compact frame. Liked that idea too.

Don't mind me but I think it looks lopsided with that said if I had another FS I just might have that done to it. Some times I think my grip is sticking out like a sore thumb but then again it might just be me.

Yes getting rid of the beavertail will help with appendix style CCW

it does look a little lopsided. But in the hand it is balanced as hell, feels great long slide compensates for the short grip. Shoots like a dream, Prob my new carry gun, hung up my shield's and compact's to carry this beast. The Holster is a Leather lined Kydex by Garrett Industries, Have had this new chopped piece for about 24 hrs now and have been carrying ever since. Conceals well and sits well even while driving.

Look closely at the pictures lsbbigdog posted. You can see that all the edges of the slide are rounded off. It makes the slide look like it was melted a little.

It would be nice is the factory made 4-inch barreled guns with the compact handle. Kinda like a CCO Colt. I would own one or two for sure.

The Garrett holster is great, Leather lined greay quality and craftmanship. I have one for my shield as well. Also bought a double mag carrier for the shield,and a single for the Full size 9mm. The double mag carrier can be seperated and used as a single. Garrett has several different ways to fasten the carriers to your belt. Cannot say enough good things about the holster hugs the body,conceals well and durable. worth every dime and sheryl garrett is great to deal with.

I really like your chopped M&P 9. I did the same by putting the full size barrel on slide from my M&P 45 on the compact 45 frame. Enjoy!

Yes, slide and barrel from full size M&P 45 goes right on the M&P 45C frame. The frames are same length, only difference is the short grip. Function was perfect. Put the M&P 45C back to stock and sold it to finance another project. Should have done photos, but this is an easily repeated swap by anyone with the two pistols.
