Some of you may have seen my other thread from yesterday about finding and getting a 'really nice" 4" Model 63 for $500 at a LGS..........

"NOW, The REST of the STORY"............

Earlier in the week I'd stopped at the "neighborhood LGS" about 10 minutes from home....... it had three CZ 75s on consignment (from the same guy) a 75B an 85BD and a strange "Soviet" marked 75...... one fired a little; two unifired...... priced between $499 and $549.

Never had a CZ auto.... have acquired several of their rifles over the past 10 years..... love their FSs/mannlichers in .22lr,.22mag and .223. Great looking mini mauser actions; just a outstanding value for the money and all shoot MOA .

Anyway the prices on the 'used" CZ Pistols all seemed high to me. Did some research and MSRP on a basic CZ75 is $612..... which tells me LGS should be selling them NEW for about $525-550 (Bud's has them at $ 539 IIRC). IMO "used" should be about $100 less even in anib condition. So 'ballpark"......... $425

Anyway after buying the Model 63 I'm looking around and was BS'ing with the owner; who I've done business with for 20 years, and spy a CZ 75B on display; way in the back behind the counter.......marked $479. I ask "that's not new is it?"... it looks nib at 20 ft.......

Answer "No, sold it to a regular customer 2 maybe 3 years ago; he traded it on a deer rifle last month". Hands it to me like a good salesman would.... shot but looks brand new..... Well I'm thinking $479 is a lot better than $500+ .....might get it for $450 ( wishing I could have negotiated a 2 gun deal).........but I "DON"T need it".....thinking just wish him Merry Christmas and head for home!!!!!!

So I'm holding it ......OK..... "fondling it"....... as we continued to BS.......

Out of the blue the owner says..." I'm into that at a good price ..........
I'll let you have it for $400 out the door!"

My jaw drops.... daaaaaaaaa..... trying to do the math in my head.... subtract tax and Pa. background check...............that's $365 for the gun!!!!

Well," Now you know; the rest of the story".................

Well not really ........it only came with one magazine......so last evening went shopping for an extra mag or two:

CZ-USA: factory mags are $41..... WHAT!!!......... but they're having a 15% off sale............

Mecgar: $31........ that's a little better

Brownells: $25........... but on sale for $19.99 and free shipping for orders over $75/Iowa tax only............. so five 16 round Mecgar magazines for less than $100. As a side note; only the 75/85 magazines were on sale all the other CZ mags were full price!!!!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night.

One of the guys in my office has one and that is one of the nicest, smoothest shooting guns I have ever shot. You load it on Sunday and shoot all week too. Magazine capacity sure is impressive to a revolver/1911 shooter.

It's a basic/"flagship" 75B ........ marked on slide "14" which I'm assuming like the Rifle's indicates date of manufacture..

"The Russian" was a 75B .....with....... a red star on the slide and all the slide markings were in Cyrillic (sp?)/Russian lettering.

The CZ 75 was supposedly the gun of the Soviet Spetsnaz/Special Forces. Think this "Russian" was just a way to market to the "mall-ninjas" :D

Sorry no pictures

Got 5 magazines from Brownells for $99.99 & free shipping.

So I'm holding it ......OK..... "fondling it"....... as we continue to BS.......

Had to laugh at that. While perusing the case at my LGS, the counterman, who I'm friendly with, tells me he got a new EDC, then unloads it and hands it to me. It was a CZ PCR and I must have held it for fifteen minutes while the owner came over and placed an order to get one for me, then joked that I might want to keep the one in my hand until the new one arrived. :D

Where as it is your first CZ, I am confident that it will not be your last!! ( I have 6 of them) .

Aren't the ergonomics fantastic?

Randy

The 75s have always reminded me of a upgraded Browning Hi-Power......w/ Double action first shot/carry option.......

If I had not been so heavely into Beretta's and S&Ws when real CZs hit the US market I would have had one years ago....... this was just too good of deal to pass up IMHO!

The only after market magazines I use are Mec-gar and P-mags.

I put myself on the email list for one of the CZ 75 SP01 Tactical Customs from the CZ Custom Shop. I have a Tanfoglio TZ75, one of the early ones with the slide mounted decocker that is a sweet shooter. It had reliablity issues that I have been working on for a while. When I get my Custom the TZ will become my "hand it to the buddy I take shooting" gun.

Nice snag Sir! I just got around to obtaining a 75-B about six months ago. What a great pistol, with a wide range of ammo including my cast bullet hand loads right out of the box no malfunctions, very good accuracy. All steel DA or
SA what more could one ask? No doubt these will reach classic status along with the Browning Hi Power and 1911. Enjoy that one.

To the OP and anyone else:

Now if you want a REAL treat see if you can find a CZ 40B, which was a joint effort between Colt and CZ....you get a 1911 lower with the same grip angle and classic CZ 75b top end. The bottom end is for a double stack .40 S&W.

I have two of them that I use frequently in USPSA L10 division.....

Can carry cocked & locked....will take any standard CZ/EAA Witness mag if I want it..

WAY under-rated handgun in ALL regards!

Randy

I think MecGar mags are commonly available for $20. You have to search, but some one always has them on sale.

Grips are available too. I prefer the aluminum due to the thinness, although you can find thin wood grips, too.

I know MecGar sales are not uncommon....but to find just what I needed at the "rock bottom" sales price..... and free shipping......well after getting the gun ........ well I was ready to do my "happy dance"...... and my name really is Brad.........

To me aluminum grips are like plastic guns..... soulless..... and cold can't forget cold!!!!!!

Hey LOL; if we all liked the same things it would be a pretty boring world.........and a lot of women would be spinsters!!!!!! :D

Hey, Neighbor, I was reading your reply on Fred's post just now, and saw your reference to having just bought a CZ 75. What a coincidence !! I bought one of the Isreali imports that Cole have been bringing in. I have always wanted one of the original CZ75s, preferably with the first issue stocks, but this was a fairly early one. Some cosmetic dings, very minor, shot very little, and they put the import mark on the barrel, so you have to disassemble the gun to even see it. I'm very happy with it, I won the auction for $380, but with shipping have about $400 in it.

It makes an addition to a small CZ collection for me, though... CZ 50, CZ 52, CZ 70, CZ 82, and now a CZ 75. I am pretty happy with all of them, and an added attraction is that I have visited the Czech Republic, and (very briefly) the factory where they are made. I also visited one of their breweries... They make some of the worlds greatest beers, and a factory where they make crystal. Brought home a bunch of crystal decanters for storing adult libations. I didn't think they would let me bring home a pistol, though, so I passed back then.

Best Regards, Les

But you can only buy them if you have THE APP.

Oh yes, the grips/stocks! Bought a set of Cocobolo CZ Grip/stocks for mine and absolutely had to get rid of the stock phillips head screws. Phillip head screws just do not look right on a fire arm! The proper "slot" grip screws were obtained from Mid-Way but the screw head was too large to fit into the CZ grip holes. Chucked em into my Moto-Tool, spun em up and used a fine cut file to reduce the diameter. Then used a fine sandpaper to polish and dabbed a bit of cold blue to finish. Good to go, good looking and did I mention that Phillip head screws do not belong on fire arms?!!

I love those older pre B's, I have a 92, and bought my son an 89 from Coles for his birthday (cost less than yours, and very likely has a rougher finish). I agree that Cole puts the import mark on a VERY nice place, my 92 from elsewhere has a PW Arms stamp on the slide, slightly overlaying the original rollmarks

Note that if your CZ 75 is a 92 or older, you will have to find "pre B" mags, the current mags are just a little too thick.

Newer CZs don't have this issue.
