I'm past the point of needing to get a chronograph. I'm looking at either a Competition Electronics Pro Chrono Digital with the remote accessory or the CED Millenium II. I'll be using it mostly at an outdoor range with rifles, with a little shooting done indoors with handguns.

Reviews that I'm reading are very positive on the Competetion Electronics model. However, I'll also be using it at an indoor range and will need their lighted skyscreens for that. It appears that the skyscreens need to be pugged into an outlet rather than running off a battery pack. Reviews on the CED unit are for the most part positive, but there are complaints about the plastic hardware for mounting the screens and some minor ones about variations in reading.

Advice and suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have the Pro Chrony Digital & it works fine, no remote. I got a short camera tripod from Wal-mart to hold it in position.

I have been using Oehler Chronographs for the last 25+ years now. I was given a CED for testing and evaluation a few years back. It is the older model Millennium.

Accuracy was spot on. I placed the CED and one of my Oehlers in-line so that I would get two readings per shot. I saw no troubles.

For use at the indoor ranges, I used to carry clamp on lamps to hang over my Oehler sky screens. Obviously I needed an extension cord to get the 110v to them. My sample CED came with a set of the infra red sky screens. What a pleasure to use indoors.

There is no company on earth that can take care of it's customers the way that Ken Oehler does, but the other choices are way cheaper.

I have no experience with the other product, sorry

I have good things to say about the Competition Electronics Digital chronograph that I bought last year. I am pretty surprised at how well it works on overcast days. I haven't had any questionable readings from it at all. I also am really enjoying the wider sky screen window.

The price was quite nice, so I have absolutely no regrets.
