Ed: Seriously, you have never loaded any full bore Magnum loads with either WIN 296 or H110...?
Have you ever shot any?
Cheers!
Never tuched the two powders or used them.
All my old .357 loads were by Manuals or "Guestament" and by inspection.
I did not get a chrony until 1/24/2010.
My old .357 110 JHP loads came out to;
Unique at 1460, Blue Dot 1480, SR4756 at 1528fps
125 JHP SR4756 at 1448, later 2400 load at 1502fps.
158 Lwc: Unique at 1320, Green Dot at 1281 ( chrony 2010 )
158 XTP new powder 2400: 1340fps. ( chrony 5/9/2013 )
After the first five years with the M19, I found that accuracy was better than a maximum load, if I needed a fast follow up shot on game.
A 97% load could be a good thing.
It took me 42 years to finally buy some 2400 powder, since I was
happy with my Blue Dot for full loads in my M19 revolver.
I only bought 2400, to get data for this S&W site, to post some data, for the members
and to see what all the chatter was about.
I don't care for 4227 in the .357 revolver, though.
It does not burn 100% and the fps per amount of powder is very poor.
I will be doing a .357 test soon, so hang in there.
