Once again, it's cider pressing time here at the ol' homestead. The Gravenstein apples are always early, so we pressed a couple gallons of straight Gravenstein a couple weeks ago. It's okay, but a little insipid.

Now, however, the other apples are ripe, so today some of the family came up and we pressed twenty gallons. This year's mix is comprised of Fuji, Honey Gold, Empire, and some Pixie Crunch. It turned out to be a great blend, even if I do say so myself.:D

Oh, that's good stuff right there! I grew up just a few miles from Purdue's experimental orchards, and they'd always press and sell their raw cider for exceedingly reasonable prices: wow, but that's good stuff!
Enjoy the fruits of your blessed labor, my friend!

PS: Chip, I am terribly sorry about Cookie.

Rusty, thanks so much. She was a great mule. And I was fortunate to log many, many miles with her. And she taught several grandchildren how to ride. She lived a good life and was in her thirties when we said good-bye. She'll definitely be missed.
