I see where in Alliant's information on this powder they say 'Not For Metallic Cartridges' then go on to post 44 Special loads for it on their website. 🤔

My LGS has it on the shelf at 169.00 for 8lb kegs. I was wondering if anyone uses it for any other cartridges, how does it meter etc?

I've never used Clay Dot, but I did take a look at a recent powder burn rate chart.

The burn rate chart shows that it is in between Red Dot and Bullseye. Both of those powders are used extensively in target loads for the 32 S&W, 38 Special, 45 ACP and other low pressure rounds.

Fortunately I'm well stocked with the old favorites and I don't have to experiment with unknown (to me) powders. Let us know the results if you try it.

I've burned quite a bit of it in a 12 gauge with 3/4, 7/8 and 1 oz loads. In that application, it was released as interchangeable with Clays by Hodgdon. Not exactly by bushing number but by weight. Literature at the time said to use Clays data.
I've looked for metallic data as well but have not found any. Perhaps using Clays loadings as a starting point you might find useful loads?
