Clean after X rounds

That's the type of question that, when asked of 100 people, will generate 100 different answers!!

I shoot at home and sometimes I shoot a mag or two everyday. I'll clean after a few 100 rounds but certainly not every time I fire the gun. If one of my pistols is going to be put up for a while I'll detail clean it before storage.

I clean my Shield 9mm(EDC) every time I come home from the range.. and a quick wipe down once a week or so.. just to keep it 'nice"..

I clean a new gun before I even shoot it. Then, after every trip to the range, it gets cleaned again, whether I fire one shot or 100. I just can't stand the thought of one of my weapons sitting around with carbon and other residue in and on it.

I do the same with my guns unless I'm running a test for some reason

I guess if you think of it as a chore, you'll do it less often. I enjoy it and its just a part of going to the range for me.
Most modern semis can function fine for several hundred rounds.

The Shield is my EDC, so when shooting at the range, I run a bore snake through it before putting it back in my pocket and leaving the range, then give it a cleaning when I get home.

As for my other pistols (G19, G26, XD Service and XDMc)... They can easily go several range trips before they get a real good scrubbing.
Euro-guns don't seem to mind running 'hot & dirty'. :)

It's a carry gun that I trust my life to. I fire it once a month and clean it after I shoot it.

All good answers and by cleaning your weapon every time your done at the range we can avoid any false accusations of firing our carry weapon in public or anywhee else. Then when someone says "shots fired" they will find a clean M&P :)

The two pistols I shoot most are a polymer Sig 9mm and my S and W stainless 1911. I clean the 1911 after every shoot. It gets testy if I don't. The Sig? I don't know at what point it would begin to want a cleaning, it shoots filthy dirty as well as it does clean, so I settled on every 500.

I have a 9mm Hipoint carbine that the manufacturer states cleaning recommended every 2,400 rounds

I might be a bit lazier than some of the others here. I shoot at least once every two weeks, and an average range trip is only around 100 rounds. I feel like cleaning it every week is a bit excessive, so I typically end up cleaning it about ever 2 trips (so about every 200 to 400 rounds I would say).

I have never felt like it was excessively dirty, and it has never malfunctioned (not even once).
