I am sure this has been asked before but how can I clean off the black powder residue/carbon off the face of the cylinder of a nickel revolver?

Thanks in advance!

Mpro and a toothbrush is a safe way. Typical solvents like acetone (Gunscrubber) and lacquer thinner are safe on nickel. Lead away cloths remove carbon but keep them away from the nickel you can see because they can scratch it.

Cleaning the face of the cylinder......

Brasso will take off the residue fast and cleanly. I use it on my Freedom Arms .454 Casull. As you have nickel, I would only use the Brasso on the FACE of the cylinder to avoid fine scratches from the "grit" in the Brasso. It also works on the muzzle and is WAY faster than Hoppes or Sweets or ..............

I would not use BRASSO on nickel due to the amonia content. It is very aggressive.
