I just purchased a new 642, my first J frame, and took it to the range.

What kind of cleaning products can I use on it and not damage the clear coat?

Break-Free CLP is very popular. I like G-96 too (smells nice).

You can still use conventional solvents for the cylinder and bore.

I use Gunzilla or Slip2000. Both products are non-toxic to you, and the gun!

Hoppe's #9 works for me. Love the smell and it cleans my guns too!

I just use Hoppes #9 also. Works great and hasn't harmed the finish yet.
