I know there are probably threads on cleaning the Scandium frame and Titanium cylinder on the 340PD, this is my first one I have owned and I want to make sure I don't mess up the coating on the cylinder.

I have been using Ballistol for cleaning my firearms for many years and never had any issues with it affecting the finish on any of my firearms, but I have read there is a special coating on the 340PD Titanium cylinder.

Any help would be appreciated, I looked in the documents that came with mine and there is nothing about what cleaning solvent to use. I figure there has to be a written procedure for cleaning the 340PD.

I own one and used the Hornady One Shot Cleaner aerosol spray on mine and it cleaned it nice without hurting anything. I highly doubt Ballistol would hurt it also.

Just nothing with ammonia in it. I use Hoppes Elite and a toothbrush. Don't use a brass brush. if you want to clean the blast marks off the side of the cylinder use lead remover cloth on the sides NOT the cylinder face.

My recollection of the rules about cleaning the Ti alloy cylinder is that there is a coating that protects the metal from erosion, so no heavy abrasives or harsh solvents and you'll be fine.

I use nothing more than CLP, a clean microfiber towel, Q-Tips, and maybe bore brush to clean nearly everything. That's what I used on the 340PD (recently traded for 686 2.5")
